Tenderfoot Thahd (2/17)

  1. I am wondering what is better on torment: two-handed high damage weapons or one-handed with shield? Your opinion?
  2. Somewhere on the forum I've read that it takes 5 canisters before you will have untrust from shapers in Mutagen's ending. If you want a challenge run, do not use canisters and on quiet marshes you will see if you are going for that one well string in ending.
  3. I am playing Avadon 1 The Black Fortress with shadowalker on torment. Two things I want to ask: 1) There is a lockpick skill, how much I should invest into it? 2) I heard there is a way to up this skill to five. Should I not to invest into lockpicks before I get this opportunity? Thanks in advance.
  4. I''ve tried all of those classes and it depends on your build. Also you should focus on one type only to get max levels for that creation branch type. Fire is nice because all creations are ranged and can dish very well damage. Also 2 of 3 types have innate haste option which is nice. But they do not have acid at all. Battle is nice 'cause of high HP and armor, but lack distance attacks. Leaps compensate for that. Magic creatures are mostly weak in terms of HP but here we have artilla with innate haste option and acid, vlish with their blessings/curses and Glaarks who can stun and their senior option: Ur-glaahks can even dominate enemies which is game breaker. Fire scales mostly with intelligence and agility, I guess. Battle with strength. Magic with intelligence and agility, glaahks with strength and intelligence. So it depends on your belt or other equipment too. I want to ask a question without poll: what is your favorite creation branch for each class (or builds) and why? Any strats?
  5. Hi, I have now only two medals left: Claim the mines And one which requires to enter Inner Crypt Guess I'll have last walkthrough with solo magic stealth agent on normal or I am wondering what was wrong on my last playthrough. With mines: I've managed to destroy all pylons in mines one by one and still I do not have this medal. Also I speaked with servant mind and wandered threw all mines with all map opened. But there is no medal! What should be done exactly to achieve it? Problem is with North mines which are red still. Maybe it's because I didn't slay two battle alphas out there. With entering Inner Crypt... I lost somewhere one of the balls required. Maybe I put it into the locker in the Vakkiri where spy lived before I get rid of it (the name is Nabb if I remember correctly) - by the way it is nice place to store the things - but the ball is lost now on the last walkthrough. I remember that I've slayed the thahd with the ball and then put it in the locker and I can not find it anymore.
  6. Anyway. I tried to reach fast the Ancient Crypt on Guardian using Volatile Thahds Drone Strategy on Casual while having 0 in leadership, mech and stealth. It was not easy. As the door to crypt requires entry baton which easier to find in Western Workshop than the mines, I proceeded there. I didn't have those 70 and then even more batons to proceed into the chamber another way. It was a cringe when I found out that this filthy servant mind requires leadership to proceed. Why... Then I looked into the walkthrough and found out that it's 3 leadership. Pain. How did the pals out there found out that some tombs gives you skills? Is it from game code reverse engineering or they were more hungry to find this out?
  7. When I saw topic name I thought it was about enemy pylons. Just found out in the Eastern Docks with my 8 stealth that I can spam up to 4 rounds of attacks while standing on maximum shooting distance without them attacking back, only sending me single stunning ray in return after 4 rounds. For my character it's ~4-6 firebolts before I've get a chance to take damage from them. Figured it out! Maybe it's not stealth, but an essence lance's distance. I couldn't cast it too. Probably pylon have 2 attacks per round and choosing each time either stunning ray or essence lances. And when it cannot perform Essence Lancec it will wait.
  8. Thank you very much! I've encountered was Benttooth and Warped Fyora. How I should search for them? By revisiting map many times? Is it necessary to search the map for monster and it's place each time or I can reload it several times and then search?
  9. I've started several walktrhoughs in parallel using all classes simultaneosly + pacifist (and strats too, this game is RICH; when I am bored with one class I switch to another save) and on my first with guardian file I've killed something called (maybe) rawbone and got a ring from it. It was either in Crag Valley or Vlish Forest south near some nest. On the forum I discovered that random monsters exists. Please tell me which rare monsters exists and how&where to encounter them.
  10. I've done as you said. It was fairly easy to get S from Tombs and South Bridge (only those dreaded thunder-handed Thahds were bit tricky; although my Thanhds and my steel sword cleaved them all). Then I started to farm mid-game levels for leadership and mechanics. It was so relieving to get these and start to finish quests from the beginning of the game;
  11. Hello there! Few years ago I've played Geneforge 1. It was fulfilling experience with shaper class. Week ago I've discovered that there is a brand new Mutagen version! With a new graphics and gameplay changes. Didn't sleep very much, tried several builds on difficulties normal to torment. Torment is too painful for me, normal is boring because enemies do not have abilities and veteran is just OK for me. So I decided to play Guardian because I want beefy warrior with a big sword having support from a few strong creatures. Shaper is too frail for me and he needs to micromanage the creatures. It is irritating a bit. Agent would be nice if there were more spells and less enemies at once, I do not know how to play it. I've affinity for powergaming and minmaxing. I like to have strongest characters possible in each game I play. So I read a wiki and saw that if you have 0 in skill, sarcophagus books will raise skill by one. Problem is, sacrophaguses (S from here) are in mid to high-level areas and I dunno how I should play to reach them. The Tombs, Inner Crypt, South Bridge and Sealed labs all require strong character. Also for guardian I have zeros in skills: Magic Shaping, All Magic Skills, Leadership, Mechanics, Stealth I can forgive magic shaping S and mental && blessing magic -- they are in the Tombs and spellcarft -- it is in Southbridge, but everything else seems very late game for me. Also I like mechanics and leadership in this game to much. Why they were placed in super late game? Should I strongly invest in my fighting skills and stats only while not speaking with anyone and loosing mechanics gimmicks for 3/4 game? Or there is a way to reach all of those S without too much trouble? Please help me built my level clearing strategy and show your opinion about idea on minmaxing with S. Thank you in advance.
