  1. When I fought him, my fighters couldn't handle the damage he was dealing out. Using an invulnerability potion fixed that problem. Other than that, just keep everyone alive (your guys and your allies) and beat on him until he's dead.
  2. I'd like to see Geneforge 5 take place in a post-apocolyptic setting. The Rebels win in Geneforge 4, unleashing the unbound. The Shapers respond with their own unstopable, ruinous creation. By the time Geneforge 5 starts, most major cities have been reduced to ruin and people (along with intelligent creations) live in small enclaves, in constant fear that an unbound creation will stumble upon them. Rebels and Shapers no longer exist as organized bodies. The PC could be an ex-Rebel, ex-Shaper, or maybe just someone who stumbles upon a Geneforge. The goal of the game, at least initially, would be one of survival. Think Fallout. I think that setting would make for one awesome game.
  3. Games with the level of PC - gameworld interaction you're describing are very rare. In fact, I'd say that no good ones exist at all. They're incredibly hard to design. Geneforge and Avernum are both great series, though, but for different reasons. For me, Avernum's appeal comes from the huge, unique game worlds. It's fun to just wander around and explore what I want to explore. Generforge is more about gameplay variety and getting to make hard moral decisions. There are many different paths through every game in the series. I highly reccomend Geneforge 4. It kicks serious ass.
  4. Does playing as a Servile significantly alter dialogs, quests, etc? It seems to me that at the very least going over to the shaper's wouldn't be an option, and you'd have to act dumb in towns not controlled by rebels. Also, has anyone managed to make it through using Leadership and Mechanics alone? Seems like it'd be a real trick getting past Monarch, or the endgame. Finally, anyone else find it weird that no one seems to care when you walk into a shaper controlled area with a bunch of creations? I've had to suspend my disbelief every time.
  5. Thanks, the one area I didn't explore... I assumed that an infiltrator wouldn't be in there with all the cultists, but I guess not.
  6. I'm trying to kill all the infiltrators in Burwood province. Four are down, but I can't seem to find the fifth. I've gotten two shapers (the one that first greets you when you enter Burwood, and the one in Porphyra West Gate. I also killed the agent in Western Burwood with all the mines, and the Guardian in Valeya ruins. Where the heck is the last one? Thanks
  7. I got him by forcing him into a corner with a hasted Glaak stabbing him twice every round. He got stunned enough that he couldn't do much. Then I used soldiers from the shaper camp to take out his creations, and deal extra damage to Monarch when it was safe to do so. Even so, that fight was hard as hell. Went through a truckload of essence pods.
  8. I've never had it go away either. Practically every spiderweb game has had a quest like this, they're just a good way to make money and maybe a little experience.
  9. Ugh, that tactic above is so cheap. If you want something more fulfilling... I did this on torment. My first reccomendation is to not worry about it for a while. You gotta get your party members enough health that they won't get killed in one round. Later in the game you should have enough health that you can take a hit or two and still have a sliver of life left. Even once you have enough health, it's still a very hard fight. Augment, bless, shield, haste, use every buff you have before entering the room. Cast slow on the demon multiple times, until he can only do one attack per round (I don't think it's possible to slow him to the point he can't attack at all). Cast a few summoning spells, even if the creatures you create can't do much damage they'll at least serve as extra targets. Good luck! Dispell barrier is worth it.
