  1. So, I have defeated the golems and found the crystal evidence for Berra, had the conversation with Anaximander, been to Girkra, gone through the transporter and listened to the shade, fought Vahnatai, followed them eastwards and listened to Rentar Ihrno on the pedestals. Yet Erika won't discuss the Vahnatai with me and Ostoth only lets me ask about a weapon for giants or dragons. When opening the tunnels beneath the Giants and Troglos in previous versions there were crystals to collect there too in older versions. I've been back more than once and nothing. I only have the alien beasts and the Citadel etc to do leading on to Vahnatai. I like to get Demonslayer from Rentar's rooms before Linda goes rogue again before leaving Rentar for the very end. Do I have to fight Rentar to get evidence to get a weapon to fight Rentar with? I have the warpmetal blade, I have the Radiant Soulblade from Carmine. Do we get an anti crystal soul blade (the one in the golem factory was very tough) or not?
  2. Hey all. Sorry for all the posts; just discovered the forums. I was sort of scoping out a tomb (I think it was Ominous Crypt?) west in the Vahnatai Lands. Ever since then, my entire party will become diseased every so often, with the caption that we feel very ill and our hair is falling out. What is this curse? How do I get rid of it? Thanks!
  3. I reworked my original rendition of the Alien Blade from everyone's favorite* series. Take a look and let me know which design works better. *Unless you prefer Geneforge, to which I say that I do not share but respect your opinion
  4. If this idea has been utilised already in the Crystal Souls version of Avernum 2 (though I doubt it considering how the inherited narrative is structured) then please disregard my thought experiment, (and also let me know because that would actually get me to buy the remake) if not... well buckle in, I have an idea for the inevitable remake of the third game. I've always considered it a wasted opportunity that we never had Vahnatai as one of the selectable races during character creation in Avernum 3-6, even during their heel-turn moments the Vahnatai have seldom presented a unified front, some have remained friendly... or at least not blindly falling into line behind Rentar-Ihrno. And indeed having a Vahnatai party member during 3 would present quite the crisis of conscience for them, at the very least a bit of flavour text in some interactions. Having one Slith, one, human, one Nephilim and one Vahnatai would present quite a bit of variation in party members, rather than the usual spare duplicate human I usually end up with. There is also strong precedent for the nature of their racial bonuses, Swords, thrown weapons, mage spells, and due to their long lifespans and the many years of hard training they spend to obtain that mastery, giving them the greatest growth rate penalty of any of the races makes sense both narratively and for game balance. The only sticking point I see is the traditional Vahnatai weakness to sunlight, which would of course be especially relevant in the third game, but not insurmountable as the third game shows us with some encounters with Vahnatai foes outside. A thick cloak, a unique situational debuff, or a weakness to fire damage if we're fudging things a little... or we could ignore that aspect entirely if it's too fiddly as a little detail. If the racial traits have been changed in Crystal Souls then this idea would have to be heavily reworked, but I believe the core concept is sound. If anyone in these forums thinks this proposal has the ear of a member of Spiderweb's dev team then I would appreciate this idea being passed along to them, I don't feel like personally pestering the devs on twitter or what have you, so I present it here for the consideration of the community.
  5. I can't find any answers or even questions about this, and I can't see why. Did I miss something super-obvious? Just outside Resting Cells #4, we are told that Abra and friend are going to go inside and wake up some Vahnatai, but they don't do it. At the control panel found inside, it's suggested that I shouldn't try to use the controls to wake them up myself. But meanwhile, I have received instructions (Top Half of Scroll and Bottom Half of Scroll) for using the controls correctly. I have, in fact, found two different sets of the scroll halves, from which I infer that it's really important that I find and have those instructions. But I don't get to use them! Trying to use any control at all fizzles. Is this a glitch? A red herring? A Communist plot?
