Tenderfoot Thahd kryksyh
Hi. Is there any chance to get desura key for those who bought HiB? Thats kinda weird to use steam under linux neither app stored alone in folder with _manual_ update needed. Already downloading mojosetup, but hoping to get it on desura. Understated Ur-Drakon Tyranicus
You should probably take that up with the Humble people.
Tenderfoot Thahd kryksyh
Lol, same thing they told to me in live chat. Quote: Mark H: Hey there! Me: it's sooooo weird to use steam under linux Mark H: Unfortunately, we don't have control over whether Bundle buyers get Desura keys or not. =( That's up to the developers, really. Articulate Vlish Oov3Zuaf
I'd like to know this as well. Just recently I mailed Humble Bundle about this enquiring why there are so few desura keys available. So let me take this chance and ask you (the developer) directly: How come there are steam keys available but no desura keys? Do they ask too much of your profit or is it just not worth it because the market share of desura is so little? Or maybe it's another reason entirely. I'm just curious as I really would like to see a desura key to be able to play this game comfortably on linux.
Tenderfoot Thahd kryksyh
So, any answers from Spiderweb's officials? Just say "yep, we're working on it", or "we don't care about those lunatics that dont use one true steam, so f**k off".
Easygoing Eyebeast keira
SW doesn't check the support forums often. Try emailing them at spidweb@spiderwebsoftware.com
Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
Spiderweb has nothing to do with managing the Humble Indie Bundle, though. They made the game, turned it over, and get their share of the profits. You need to speak to the HIB people about Desura, as mentioned above. —Alorael, who would expect the admins to be checking in regularly to support a new release, or at least a new platform release. Jeff and Mariann reliably do read and respond more in the first couple of weeks.
Articulate Vlish Oov3Zuaf
This is nothing Humble Bundle specific though. We're just taking it as a welcome opportunity to raise the attention about desura keys. Of course Avadon first would have to be available on desura before keys could be added to the bundle. The Humble team has stated on multiple occasions that it is not in their power to make desura keys available but that the devs have to come to an agreement with desura -- they wouldn't share with me how such an agreement can be reached or what the possible pitfalls are. [edit] And I just realized it already is on desura
Articulate Vlish Oov3Zuaf
So I asked SW about a desura key and what they thought about getting the linux version on desura as well and this is what they answered: Originally Posted By: spidweb@spiderwebsoftware.com Basically, we're extremely busy, and I'm not sure adding this capability is worth the effort. Edit: To clarify my previous post: Only the windows version of Avadon is available on Desura.
Articulate Vlish Oov3Zuaf
And today I noticed that the linux and mac versions were added to desura as well, which is a great thing. Thanks for that. Any chance of getting desura keys retroactively for the humble bundle buyers? If not, how come?

Articulate Vlish Oov3Zuaf
And now it's not available for linux on desura anymore. Anyone care to shed some light into this? On desura itself there's quite a few posts about emailing spiderweb directly and asking politely about this, but I think this forum would be a much better place, as you can reach many people with just one post. You're reaching more people, but you're not reaching more people that can actually do anything about it. You're reaching the Spiderweb community. We play the games and can answer questions, but we have no control over business decisions of the company. Emailing Spiderweb sends your message to Jeff, Mariann, and Linda, who are the only people who can actually do anything about this.

Yeah, that was more along the lines of "I hope Spiderweb doesn't reply to each and every one of those emails but just posts one reply in their forums." However, it seems the powers that be are seldom to be seen on these boards. Which is okay, I guess. I just think handling this matter on the forums or on desura (or any other place where it can be easily and publicly read) is a better approach using a limited supply of time than personal e-mails, that's all.
