Yeah, having to press ESC turned me off buying the game tbh. It drives me crazy... But I keep hoping one day a patch, or new game, will fix the problem!

I don't even own the Linux version (yet!) but I just wanted to give you credit for coming back and posting the solution. I salute you.

I know exactly how you feel. I'd love to see this in a patch maybe. I currently have the demo, but would go back and put some money down for little fixes like this.
