Yup, talking to the right person ... because it just worked. Why it didn't work the last 12 times I tried, I'll never know. I didn't get any new notices when I walked up to Melanchion's gate going through it 5 times in a row - but this time, the person in Fort Mon gave me the end of the quest. I don't even care why now, I'm just glad it's off my list. Off to die at the hands of the vah-whatevs again.... "sack tenevra" my left foot, mr big shot dragon.

Huh. Well, I've been there, and am doing Melanchion's quests, and have been to the gate numerous times now... and still the Fort Monastery quest won't complete for me. Guess it will just have to stay there unfinished! (So! Annoying! I'm a completist and I hate it when the I can't finish quests and knock them off the list!)

Wait, I already scouted the Dragon Gate for someone else - this is the quest from Fort Monastery, that talks about a gate to the SW of the fort, to the ruins of Harsston. The Horned Gate is to the SE of the fort.... Do they really refer to the same thing?

Thanks for the hint about the neutrals - that was it! SIGH. Now off to approach the gate again, see if I get that message.

Hi all! So I'm nearing the end of the game and I STILL have two quests that I've never been able to do - one rather embarrassingly early quests. -Abyss Thugs: I killed the group that attacked me first time into the Abyss, and then ... really never found any more to fight! And Horrum doesn't think i've finished. So ... where are they? I've u'd all over the place, i can't find any more walking around, where are they? -Scout the Gateway. What gateway? I've been all over the area south of Fort Monastery and can't find any gateway. Do they mean Melanchion's gateway? I've already been in and doing his quests, and that doesnt' seem to have finished the "Scout the Gateway" quest. Both of these are probably sooooo easy, I don't know why I'm missing them! I am SO hooked on this game.
