  1. I'm going as the most hideous, ugly, disgusting monster you could ever think of!

    What mask?

So you went as me, the guy who takes the mask off for Halloween. :p Last year, I told my coworkers that I was planning to dress up as something truly scary, but I couldn't decide whether to be either a mortgage broker or a life insurance salesman.

I had to work on Halloween, on the closing shift. I told them I prefer the opening shift, but nooooooooo....

  2. I'll pass on the wine tasting, thanks.

I had my fill of wine by the ripe old age of 14, when I was an altar boy at my church. When I was about 12, we got a new pastor, and he wanted wine served with communion. The congregation wasn't used to the idea, so there was usually a lot left over. You can't put it back in the bottle; and you're not supposed to just pour it down the sink; so the only real option was to finish it off. I was volunteered to help on several occasions, and I'm just glad I always had a designated driver, since sometimes I would come out of the sacristy with quite a buzz.

There's nothing like waking up to a good whiskey.
A breakfast can still be just a brandy, though.

  3. —Alorael, who looked back on his old posts, and he means ancient, and realizes that he's really the same person now as he was then. It's rather demoralizing.
I can now complain about this (regarding myself) on two different topics.
So for both of you, this is a bad thing......how? It just means you're just as cool now as then, but with mod powers (though I have no idea how long either of you have been mods). B)
  4. have tried:

beef, buffalo, pork, lamb, venison, rabbit, chicken, duck, turkey, frogs, several kinds of fish (both white and oily), scallops, clams, mussels, and shrimp.

    would like to try:

goat, quail. goose, pheasant, oyster, crab, and lobster. Also, more out of curiosity than anything else, rattlesnake.

  5. I swore I'd never come back. CURSES.
Welcome back! I think I remember you from before, but my memory is, as usual, fuzzy.

As for your return, it was inevitable. All roads leading out of Spiderweb ultimately send you in a circle leading back here, so anyone who leaves is bound to come back. They all come back.... ;)

  6. Congrats, Nikki!

Welcome! A freeze ray is oddly appropriate for the locking of threads that makes up 99% of moderatorial duties.

—Alorael, who supposes it's also appropriate for the banning. The quilting and tea? Only if you get very creative.

I wouldn't know about the quilting, but maybe the tea, especially if it's iced tea.
  7. P.S. I wish to add The Mystic to the list of honored punsters. Yours were among the most punnishing.

Thanks, although flattery, as the saying goes, will get you nowhere. ;) I try to aim for maximum pun in minimum space, with timing as the main key. Also, a warning: I have a ton of material I haven't used yet, so expect more as time passes (and it will indeed pass; it's certainly studied hard enough).
  8. Arriving in style!

As for how the new board looks, I like some parts, don't truthfully dislike others, can't really complain overall. The only thing to do now is decide where to put my lava lamp (if I had one)......

  9. Insanity is relative; at least that is where I believe I got mine.

Hence one of my sayings: Sanity is inversely relative. The more relatives you have, the less likely you are to be sane. ;)

That said, Happy 500th, Nightwatcher! :D

I was on wireless too for a while, but I finally kicked the habit, thanks to this 12-step program I've been attending.

It's usually due to two emotions: fear and greed. When there's bad news, fear causes the price to plummet; when there's good news, greed can cause prices to skyrocket. I realize that's an extreme overgeneralization, but you should get the idea.

Dude, you have no idea, although I think "sheep" would be much more accurate.

No doubt every company will take a huge hit sometime; this is a simple fact of business. How a company deals with the hit usually says a lot about running it.

I looked into it too, and came to the same conclusion, but I didn't buy either. Then again, at the time, I could barely afford a stick of gum, let alone a share of stock, so I couldn't buy even if I wanted to. Looks like we both missed out on that deal.

I'm just glad I passed on Facebook.
