  1. i'm at dorikas castle, i think i'm in the point where i can decide for both - i've accepted dorikas' mission to kill redmark, and i'm right next to dionicio, he offered me to help him kill dorikas, so i guess i'm in the point where i can decide which path to follow

so what are the pros and cons of each?

  2. even though i gave my mage the "natural mage" trait, it appears that there's a limit to heavy armor, because it said "can't cast spell with bulky armor"

    so 2 q's

    - is there a visible attribute that decides what is bulky and what isnt (e.g -xx% to chance to hit)?

    - if so, what is the limit

    thanks

  3. hi there, i can't run the game in normal mode because it won't let me pick a resolution - none is listed, so i pick the directx mode and the screen only displays the top half of the screen (i can't see the "quit" button in main screen, for example) and i've tried windowed mode, only to show the same result. i even tried manually switching my resolution from 1024x600 (my netbook's native res) to 800x600 (only other res i can switch) and no result.

Plus, the graphics look very slow..

    any help pls?

  4. i was fighting hawthorne and eventually won, now erika puts her portal to rescue me and says "you only have 4 brooches, i can't rescue you, so die"... c'mon, i haven't even killed sss-thsss and i'm already dying? i don't have previous savegames so is there any way i can get the brooch via editor or some debug option? (by the way it's the malachite brooch, the one the GIFTS give)

  5. quickghasts and other enemies usually get 3+ attacks per round, and also their attack is slow so it is very hard to fight them. when you have difficult battles try using tactics like:

    - use terrain, and particularly doors, when possible, to minimize the amount of enemies that make contact with you at any given time, protect your magic casters and/or take cover from enemy casters that slow or cast spells (better yet stay completely out of their sight, most times you'll be lucky and they won't cast anything)

    - A1 has the spell "beast ceremony" which is kind of a major bless all + a group haste, use it whenever possible. again, stay behind doors because unlike other versions of avernum, you can end combat, close the door and recast beast ceremony (it can't be casted if enemies are in sight)

    - casting arcane summon sometimes brings up an eye beast or a demon if you're lucky, these can bless and haste your party as well

hope these are useful, and someone up here is right, a1 is probably one of the easiest avernums, so don't give up
