  1. You don't quite need to go to the Honeycomb to defeat the zombies. Acid spray actually works well, if a bit slow. Most people ignore this spell, but if you don't want to brave the Honeycomb, that's your next best bet.

  2. I've encountered it on Windows 98, 2000, and XP, so I wouldn't be surprised if it also occasionally happens on Mac. With the new saved game structure for GF and A4, it doesn't happen any more.

The bug is not quite reproducible, so it's hard to figure out what's going on, exactly.

  3. Hi- unfortunately this bug made it into Nethergate:resurrection. When this happens to you, look inside your save game folder. What has happened is the extension ".sav" was removed from your most recent saved game, and the game instead loads a previous version. Just edit the file to add the ".sav" at the end of it, and you should be able to restore it.

  4. You are taking them on fairly early, and getting up to level 15 or so may help. However, if you don't mind a cheesy tactic, and have bind foe level 1, use your mage to cast bind foe on the demon every turn to web it. Use your other characters to hit it till it dies. I know this tactic works in Avernum 2, but it should also work in Avernum 1.

Also, having the first attack will make a world of difference. While out of their view, enter combat mode (after hasting and blessing), then rush them.

Armor also increases your fire, ice, and energy resistance by 1 point for every two points of armor. So the effect you're seeing is probably just caused by the increase of armor, in addition to the golden crystal.
  6. The clover boots may be better than the vat boots as each point of luck also increases all of your resistances (and armor), whereas the vat boots only increase poison and acid resistance. If you've nearly finished Dhonal isle, then you should have found some earlier on the island.

Yes, the gem effect list is complete for the types of gems you can find in GF3. I'm not sure if onyx crystals are called onyx crystals or "runed onyx," but the effect is the same. Oh, and I think the bonus from ivory skull on armor is +10% to hit, not 5%, and the tiny orb of mist decreases your chance to be hit by 10% (based on results from GF4).

I'd recommend putting either onyx crystals or ivory skulls on your weapons. Steel spines and golden crystals are best on your late-game armor, but in the meantime go for the other stuff.

  7. Boots are fairly limited in GF3, though you can find some pretty good ones around and about. I usually use the clover boots, stability boots, gazerskin sandals, and possibly the quicksilver sandals, for a character with high strength.

But yeah, the only purpose of the shaped boots is to wear some heavy boots with a decent armor rating. Even then, there are better boots available by the time you find a pair.

Hmm, I'd be curious as well, though I have a proprietary interest...

I've looked at your other complaint thread here on the lack of GF3 hints, and it seems as though you want things like artifact recipes, Area descriptions and general item/stat lists, and recommended Mechanical/Leadership skill level. All of these are in the FAQ you don't like. All quests are also listed, though not in a final list form. Do you have a really old version of the guide (0.3 ?)? The newest version is linked on this board.

Of course, you're always welcome to write your own walkthrough if you think the one available is deficient. Just let us know when it's posted.

It does have some inaccuracies when it talks about what the statistics do and other technical aspects of the game engine, but it has far fewer than anything else out there, including the little blurbs that display in Geneforge 3 itself.
Ha! I relied on the game blurbs themselves for several of those sorts of things, except when they were egregiously wrong. Oh well. I used to test everything a lot more (especially for Avernum 2), but that got to be quite time-consuming.

Even if you kill Moseh, reporting to Alwan will still earn you the pass that you need to get into the Shaper areas in the Fens. The problem is that many people kill Moseh, then assume there is no reason to report back to Alwan. The game really does reward indulging in diplomacy with the side you aren't helping.
OK, true enough. I still find helping Moseh and killing the other two shapers the easiest way to ensure that chapters 3 and 4 remain open. You can turn over Monarch's papers to the rebels and so long as you've helped Moseh, can explore Burwood without fear of the infiltrators.
  10. I'd agree that you're best off sticking with one side, however, there's definitely more reward for helping the shapers. One quest in specific is pretty much necessary to keep several areas open- repair Moseh. I find myself repairing Moseh, then killing Shaftoe and Eliza for their stuff and to keep on the good side of the rebels.

Curiously little? :p As far as walkthroughs go, it's got as good of a text walkthrough as most of the Spiderweb games (http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/game/565633.html).

But yes, it definitely lacks the visual guides of A1 and A3. I think we were all waiting on Silvar to finish his map of A2 back when the game was still fresh in our minds in 2001. When that never happened, no one else seemed to want to take it on.
  12. Run a scan-disk to make sure your hard drive is not corrupted. I've had similar problems with disk errors, and your hard drive may be experiencing problems.

If not, your error may be with the saved game you're using. Delete all your game files (saving your main save file), then reinstall. Try putting the saved game back in the folder and see if that helps. Otherwise, restart your game.
