  1. the custom, because he/she doesnt waste valuable skill points a decent player could invest in a specialized monster-character, whatever type he/she might want. the mage/priest combo with just enough melee skill to help himself through times of low mana or fighting vs eye beasts takes the cake, i think.

as a single, independent char of course.

  2. imo detailed answeres are much nicer than just uncommented lists. so if anybody thinks different, dont worry. im on your side.

come to think of it, solbergs tower in a2 is kinda nice.

id love to live in hss-kss old fortress though. havent seen it in a1 so far, but in a2 its great. (that empire general something has his base there. its in the middle of the southern part of the great lake between fort dranlon and fort emerald. two stories, hidden on a small island. some mushroom fields. an extrernal barrack. great tactical outpost for attacking the castle. sea-view from every window.)

  3. to get the money for that, you will have to cheat as heavily as it would be to just edit the items into your inventory.

drat! just when i thought it was all going fine, i felt the urge to cheat again. playing legit is just so... slow? boring? monotone? whatever.

if anybody in here can tell me how to stuff a1 with the a3 fighting system and a quest log, please tell me.

its the only game left that i havent played through yet and its the only one that annoys me too much to do it.

  4. a couple of minutes ago i started playing a3 again after a pause of about 3 months. ive ordered the full version of a1-3 and it has always worked fine.

just before i started this topic however, the game started thinking i havent registered. i cant accept certain courier jobs, edit reputation with the editor....

i used the same program ive used ever since i bought the game. ive tried with the cd and without.

why wont it let me play? does everybody hate me?

edit: problem solved. apparently someone has been tempering with my access rights to the computer. hm.

  5. which crystal soul? which crypt? there are countless crypts and crystals in a2.

if i remember correctly, in the first sleeping hall you get into you just have to work a control panel.

i think there is a black drake tooth somewhere along the river leading to the vahnatai lands.

please note that these are only dark memories of the last time i played a2 a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away....

edit: how old does a thread have to be so you cant post into it without being a dead topic raiser? only noticed how old this one is a sec ago. sry.

  6. unlike in a1 and 2, you can kill her just like that in a3. (good luck trying, however)

ok, since dado wants to know:

    SPOILER

at the end of the game, you have to go through a kind of underground passage from the tower of forgotthename in NW valorim all the way down to a secret vahnatai outpost. there, the amulet begins to show some use and blows away most of the defense (walls..).

later, you will have to destroy rentar-ihrnos tower so she cant produce monsters and send them to the surface anymore. therefore, you will have to get to her control panel. with the amu, erika teleports in at that point and fights rentar, so you can handle the panel without being attacked (and killed, mostly).

i wouldnt use the amulet however, since erika loses due to a cowardly trick and dies. ill never forget you, erika. frown

  7. ive tried out many different party-types, and the one i atm find best is: start out with custom-made fighter, druid, mage and get the npc from cotra as fast as possible. that way you have a highly-specialized, powerful and well-balanced party thats good for any situation.

one more thing: if you put an npc in the first slot when you get him/her, he/she will get elite soldier trait. in slot 4, he/she will get natural mage. (this will only work if the npc gets that slot when you get him. putting him/her in there afterwards doesnt do a crap.)

  8. K, A and F are too sympathic to be killed.

C is fun, but nothing more.

    B, D, G, H, I and J are boring.

i think some kind of intrigue (political or not) involving your supervisor would greatly help your scenario.

if you make it right, it may well become one of the best ever. (ive experienced that next to all custom-made plots are crap)

i wanted to do a similar thing, but i dont have the full boa version. come to think of it, why didnt you post this in the boa forum?

  9. i also recommend that you complete all the quests you can.

rushing through the game (only doing the quests you have to, as fast as possible) isnt fun.

youll have to cheat to be able to do that, anyway.

about the dread curse, youre right.

btw please take care with your punktuation and spelling. many people dont like to see posts like that.
