  1. Ok, thanks, guys. What's the default range for bows, javelins, and spells? Is there any way to tell other than trial and error?
  2. In combat, when I initiate a ranged melee or spell attack, one of three things seems to happen: (1) The character performs the attack! (Great!) (2) The character takes a few steps closer to the opponent (because they were initially too far away), and then performs the attack. (Not ideal, but ok.) (3) The character runs off in a random direction and their turn ends! Apparently because there was no path directly towards the enemy, but the game found some other circuitous path to be able to get close enough. (Not good!) is there some way *before* I initiate the ranged attack to tell whether my character is close enough to the enemy to be able to perform the attack without having to move? Or can I order the character to "perform this ranged attack, but only if you're close enough to do it without moving"? I'm a brand-new Avernum 2: CS player, and I couldn't find an answer to this question in the in-game help or on these forums, so I'm hoping an experienced player can help me out! Thanks!
