Ive dug up this topic because the same happened to me, but if there is someone else that happens to have this theres a solution. If you have a save before you meet the wayfarer for the third time (like an autosave at the beginning of the jhared deep) you can go back to the barrel and get the items. If you put the information at the barrel, leave the screen (go to goldcrag for example) and come back the reward should be there. I've tried going back AFTER meeting the wayfarer for the third time but there was no reward.
