No such luck. Tried reinstalling three times.

I just bought Avernum: Escape from the Pit on Steam the other day, and so far it's been pretty great. Except for one horrible problem: about half the time when I try to sell items, the game freezes and locks up my entire computer. The only way to regain control at that point is a hard reset with the power supply.
Again, this only happens in shops, at least so far. But I'm fairly confident; I have three hours logged, and of the ten times I've entered a shop, this error has happened 8. Obviously selling items doesn't take too long, so I'm fairly confident in saying it only happens in shops. I've already tried a reinstall. Any ideas?
For reference, some of the more relevant parts of my dxdiag:
Quote:Processor: Intel® Core i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.4GHz

Avernum: EftP forces hard reset---only in shops?!

Okay, I'm not SURE it's fixed (I only sell items every so often, after all), but it so far hasn't happened since I rolledback my drivers---updating them did nothing. Not the ideal solution, but it seems to be working.
