Okay I get it:-
- Try and enter NE portal, get thrown back and disoriented.
- Try again to enter NE portal, get thrown back and disoriented.
- Try and enter SE portal, get thrown back and disoriented.
- Try and enter NE portal, and you are teleported to a new location in the lower level of the Tower of Zkal.
Many thanks for your help!
-
Do you and the walkthrough mean the NE portal in the lower level room (where the 5 portals are)?
If so, it isn't working.
Or do you mean on the ground floor level?
-
I have reached a room with five teleporters.
The central one takes me back to the stairs where I entered the lower level of the Tower of Zkal.
The other four all throw me back (I stay in the same room) and make me feel disoriented, no matter how many times I try and enter them.
How do I progress?

Two questions regarding the Troglo and Giant Quests:-
Troglo Quest
So I got the message from Mayor Knight to parlay with the Troglo King.
When I was in the throne room, I felt like going walkabout, and the troglos didn't like this and attacked me.
So, there is a dead king and I am told peace with the troglos is unlikely.
Found the evil priest and slayed that troglo too.
Return to Sharimik, but Mayor Knight keeps asking me for proof for talking to the King.
Obviously, I can't provide proof. I return to Troglo Castle in hope that King may have somehow resurrected, but nothing going.
So, it seems that quest is closed, unless reload from earlier saves?
Giant Quest
Moving on to the Giant Quest, it seems because Troglo Quest is incomplete, I can't get Giant Quest from Dervish Bruskrud in Lorelei.
This is despite having rescued all his imprisoned-by-the-giants soldiers and their personal possessions.
So, it seems that this quest is also closed?

Thank you for Avadon 3, it's been great fun.
I tried to get the new version from here by re-downloading the demo.
I installed it and used my old files. I am near the end.
The files open up fine.
I am in Fort Foresight.
But when I try to travel to another area, it says Demo Only.
How do I get it to recognise I have bought it?

Hi there, Kelandon and other old timers!
I think people could get quite a bit lower than level 17, especially if they have the patience to nail the art of looting without killing (money was generally low, so this strategy had to be done a bit). Invade, distract, loot, run (and shadow step)! Part of the advice for the Corruption (run!) became useful. Also, most useful is the use of stairs (etc) to handle enemies, and going out of combat to miraculously transport and resurrect characters.
Randomizer, that must have been disappointing to get so far and have to capitulate. What was so difficult about the last boss fight in the Corruption (as a singleton on torment)?
-
Inspired by this thread, I gave this a go at 'casual'.
Some of it was as hard or harder than playing on 'torment', especially in the early stages!
I tried to do it as a singleton initially, but had to use a party inside Monitor Base D.
The Fort Foresight zone endgame was overcome by using a shadow walker's 'shadowstep' and speed potions.
My character and party were level 17 on completion, well below the level 30 cap.

I've noticed that Kai in Patrick's Tower offers to make powerful protection potions but actually only gives invulnerability potion instead of invulnerability elixir.
The witch in Dharmon seems to make the ordinary invulnerability potion, so this may be a bug.
I'm playing on Windows.

Thank you so much! Brilliant directions.
Just hadn't been there, so wasn't on my map.
-
Thanks for this list, it has helped me gain a few missing L3 spells.
The only one I haven't found is 'Daze', which is listed as being in the 'Foul cavern'.
I just don't see a foul cavern on my map.
Can someone point me to where I must go?
-
Thanks very much for the replies!

I've just completed the game but don't remember feeding a drake.
Where is this hungry drake?

Thanks for this scenario, Bain.
A good quality enjoyable small scenario!
-
Thank you, that works for me.
Saved the picture from the webpage and all seems to be working well.
-
Sorry, that link didn't work.
My computer tells me that it can't download the Crusaders bitmap file.
-
Has anyone done a bitmap file for this scenario?

Update: All compatibility modes are crashing frequently.
Even after I got a new version from Spiderweb Software. Only option is to reformat hard drive, but I'll leave off that for some time.
Thanks again everyone.
-
Thanks for the replies.
In short, I hadn't tried Compatibility Mode as previously I hadn't needed it on this computer. I tried 2000 and 1995 compaibility modes which didn't work - but 98 seems to be working fine.
The crash was happening when I looked at things, when I re-entered towns, as well as other random times within BoE.
In any event, the problem seems fixed.
If it doesn't last, I will try contacting Jeff for a bug-free version of BoE and/or reformat computer.
Once again, many thanks for your help.

I'm getting the 'Blue Screen of Death' - but only when I play Blades of Exile.
Previously, I have played a fair bit of Blades of Exile on this computer without any problems.
The files that help describe the problem are:-

My notebook is a Medion MD 96640, Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T5550 at 1.83GHz, 3GB RAM, 32 bit operating system, Windows Vista Home Premium.
My NVIDEA GeForce 9300M G Display Adapter Driver is up to date.
Does any one have any suggestions?
Should Blades of Exile be removed and reloaded? If so, I have a problem as I have mislaid my original CDRom...
Any help appreciated...

Can't download these...

Is there anyone out there who's going to remake the BoE Scenario Editor?
-
Try emailing him directly.
His email should be in the ReadMe attached to the scenario download.
-
I don't know if this is a glitch.
However, if you alter any scenario, you are not really playing that scenario any more.
Is it not better to try and meet the challenge of the scenario?
As far as I know, the character editor is to help you out if you get stuck in a scenario (e.g. a bug) or if you have difficulty with the combat or whatever.
As far as I know, experienced BoE players do not like to use the character editor or scenario editor very much. They like to meet the challenge of a BoE scenario with the recommended party or much lower.
The skilled BoE player may attempt any scenario with a (small) beginner level party - and prefer to do it this way. They will never use the character editor to gain gold or spells or resurrection etc.
