you don't actually need walkthrough besides finding certain person/etc occasionally and that is usually posted into forums (either strat central or individual topic). old walkthrough for Avernum 2 helps quite a much besides new things and some things moved to elsewhere.

1. check strategy central and if not there then 2. search forums and if no luck still (unlikely but possible) then 3. make a new thread like ACS silly/random/etc questions and wait reply (sometimes few mins and sometimes hrs) and in the meanwhile either do other quests or do something other than ponder Jeff Vogel's sanity (due making so weird puzzles).

Yes, I do #1 and #2 all the time. Is there any walkthrough someone is planning that anyone know of?

in AEFTP it took 1 trip to place where was exit to surface to replenish all ingredients patches, in ACS no xp grinding place but quite likely after has obtained graymold then 1st patch has replenished etc.

 

like Randomizer said its extremely boring (bit less in AEFTP) especially if really grinds (I did few trips weekly in AEFTP until finished last major quest).

Yes, I've been farming constantly. What do you mean "weekly" though? Is there an in-game calendar?

Short answer: no.

 

Longer answer: although there are no step-by-step walkthroughs, there's a pretty extensive amount of information about how to get through the game linked here, plus people here on the forum who provide more detailed guidance if you have questions about specific fights / puzzles / quests / etc.

Hmmm, let me think about it then. I am still on the fence regarding whether to pick up the game or not in the absence of a walkthrough - and this is literally the only issue that keeps me from buying. I am one of these "slow" people who just can't figure out puzzles, and I am a bit afraid of spamming the forum with obvious questions.

Also if you are near leveling up, a mage and/or priest can use them to make the next level and regain spell energy during a fight or long dungeon haul.

This was one option I considered, too. In fact, I have/had so many crystals that I could feed them to a caster in need of energy even if he were not close to the next level.

Would I be able to reach level 35 if I spent them all before level 30 or so?

I have split this question from A2CS Strategy Central per Triumph's request ("Please make a new topic if you have questions to ask that aren't answered here.") and also because this is not actually a strategy question.

 

It is ironic this was posted in that thread though, because it seems to have nearly the same number of links as the AEFTP strategy central thread. So I'm not sure exactly what "fewer stuff" means.

I meant mainly two things: First, there seems to be no full walkthrough yet for A2: CS. As I've said elsewhere, I've been tirelessly ransacking online for a walkthrough, because there is no way I could have gone through the trickier parts of A: EftP without consulting one. Second, the linked threads in the A2: CS section appear to be less fleshed-out.

By the way: Thank you so much for posting the party build guide on Gamefaq. It was absolutely invaluable - and I followed it almost to the letter, with the only major exception being the decision to go Cave Lore from early onward.

Only mage spells are effected by the negative to hit chances of heavy armor. Too much and you can't cast in combat. You can compensate by traits and items that have to hit bonuses.

There seems to be fewer stuff on CS than EftP. Is this because CS is a later game - or is it because it is a less popular game?

Does wearing heavy armor affect casters?

I have about 60 in my inventory at level 33 (with 2 final quests to go), and I am not sure when I am supposed to use them. Since I am a min-maxer, I'd like to know when is the best time to use them (likely too late now). Also, what about selling them once I power-level to 35 with them, since I probably can't farm enough to get to level 40? (I guess I'd have to farm about 20-30 more at least?)

I am one of those folks who are not good at puzzle-solving and figuring things out on my own: So I really need a full walkthrough to play RPG games. But I was unable to find one for A2: CS, whereas I did find one for EftP. This is literally the only thing preventing me from buying the game. Any pointers?

All herbs can be found in outdoor herb patches. Most (all ?) of then will replenish over time. There definitely is a Graymold patch.
