Hey hey false alarm. Turns out my video card drivers actually weren't up to date. It runs real smooth like butter now. Maybe leave this thread here as a warning to others.

Oh, I'm running windows 7 x64 and DirectX 11 if that helps. Also apparantly I'm missing d3dx9_32.dll so Avernum 6 DX.exe is of no help. I'm trying to see about replacing that file now, but since it's associated with dx9 and not dx11 I'm not real sure what to do.

I've never had a problem with any spiderweb game on any computer on any operating system, going back as far as various exile games on windows 3.1. Avernum 6 is choppy and painfully slow to respond no matter what settings I use. Specs: Intel quad core 2.4 ghz processor GeForce 260 4 gigs ram SATA hard drive My drivers are up to date and the computer runs everything I throw at it flawlessly so I doubt it's a configuration problem on my end, but I'm willing to try any suggestions.
