General Chaos

My first game was Avernum 4, and while I liked it a great deal and spent craploads of time last year procrastinating by playing it, I agree it was awfully linear. Good while you were in it, but not much replay value. Avernum 5 is far richer and full of more detail, and there's so many paths you can take that I expect plenty of replay out of this puppy. So buy it? Definitely.

*cough* Naturally, I figured it out five minutes after posting.

I'm on the North Trial of the Lake of Trials and can't seem to succeed in it. All I know is that there's this pit disgorging infinite amounts of cranky pudgy golems that die on one blow. I have no idea if I should be doing something different or not with it and/or the skeleton warriors. I just know the vahnatai statue isn't giving me any sign of approval yet.
