madrigan
I'm up to Alwan's territory, and so far the only creation I've used is that fyora. In fact, the only creations I can make are the fyora and the roamer. I had not intended to do much with creations, which is why I decided to play a warrior. I've put most points into strength, endurance, intelligence, the melee-relevant combat skills, healing craft, mechanics and diplomacy. My warrior is pretty tough, unless he gets stunned in which case I'm in trouble. Ok, so my question is, can I, for example, absorb my fyora (I'll miss him, but he'll always be a part of me), and go solo? Or is this just asking to get killed? Lilith
You can go without creations for all of the main game, although it'll be difficult in parts. Beating one optional boss pretty much requires creations, but he's not plot-related so if you don't care about 100% completion you can ignore him. The main problem you'll have is against enemies that stun, especially groups of submission turrets. As a singleton, if you get stunlocked, you're dead. You can always make a couple of disposable creations to deal with situations like that, though. It's good that you've put at least a couple of points into Intelligence so that if you do need to make some creations for an area, you have enough essence to do so. The Lurker
I can't play GF5, unfortunately, but I can tell you that in the previous GFs, it was possible to get to the endings as a solo character without too much trouble (especially since you put points into Mechanics and Leadership). However, the expert areas can be extremely difficult without creations (especially GF5's, it seems). And hey, you wouldn't want to waste the points you put into Intelligence, wouldn't you? I'd recommend absorbing that Fyora and making more powerful creations than that if needed (like, say, Drayks). EDIT : Thuryl beat me to it. Don't forget to equip items that increase Stun resistance if needed. I know that in GF4, it was usually possible to take out one Turret at a time (from afar, obviously), and Warriors with enough Missile Weapons skill were powerful enough to take out a Turret in two hits. Dunno if it's still that way.
Lilith
Battle creations are a pretty good fit for a melee character too, since they're cheap and tough and you're going to be up in your enemies' faces anyway. I'm running a servile now and his pet clawbug is dishing out almost as much damage as he is. I might even pump Int enough to get a second one. Randomizer
You can get through all but the last boss fight in the expert dungeon without creations. The hard part is still dealing with stunners to avoid stun lock. Plenty of armor and strength seems to help here and attacking with missle weapons. It can't hurt to have one creation, but you should pick a high level one that will have the health to last through a fight.

Would anyone like to recommend a creation for this purpose? I'll probably never be able to shape the highest level ones, but I've spent almost no points on shaping so far, so I can spend some now if necessary. Ohtar
I like Drayks, myself.
A less presumptuous name.
I would recommend battle creations. They are in the enemies' faces, and generally have higher life. However, I've always liked Kyshaks, high health and lightning aura.

It only takes 3 points in a shaping skill to shape a fifth-tier creation, and you can get those points from items if you want. It's not actually necessary to spend many points in shaping skills if you don't want to.
Emmisary of Immanence
War tralls are probably the sturdiest and most reliable creations overall. Rotdhizons are amazing but even more costly in essence, but a rotghroth is also quite effective. Wingbolts, drakons, drayks, gazers, and the aforementioned kyshakk are all fairly tough and solid sources of damage, with the higher tier creations obviously costing more and accordingly stronger. Really, I'd recommend picking one of the highest-tier creations you can make and seeing how it works out for you. You can always absorb it and try again. —Alorael, who seconds the battle creation recommendation. They aren't flashy or exciting, for the most part, but like the wawr trall they're all reliable against almost all enemies and don't require special protective measures.
