Well-Actually War Trall Spidweb
We are working on Universal versions of Geneforge 1-3 for Intel Macintoshes. The Universal Geneforge is now in public beta. You can download the beta here: ftp://ftp.spiderwebsoftware.com/temp/GeneforgeDemov12beta.dmg If you try it out (either to report a problem or let us know that it's working), please let us know. If you have been wanting to be enlisted as a Spiderweb beta tester, reporting on public betas is a great way to get our attention. - Jeff Vogel Added 3/18 - The official release of this is finally being taken live. Thanks to everyone who sent feedback. Geneforge 2-3 will follow in the next week or two. Thread now unstickied.
Well-Actually War Trall Acky
Will a windows version be coming out after this?
Magnificent Ornk nikki.
Since this is just an update that allows newer Mac systems to run the game, no.
Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
Well, don't say it like that. There's going to be a Windows version eventually, but it'll still be a couple of months.

Chittering Clawbug TJC Shaper
does this mean that geneforge 1-3 for mac r multiplayer compatible? mmos r wat brings customers i mean look at WOW and POTCO only thing is u need to invest a small bit of cash every month like for geneforge since its small like $1 a month (respond to the top b4 u support or >_< critisize >_< me)
Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
lrn 2 read n rite english b4 u post here No, but seriously, "Universal" has nothing to do with multiplayer. It just means that it'll run natively on Intel Macs: in other words, it'll run faster and more smoothly on newer computers.

Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
How old is your computer? It may just not be able to handle that many things at once. —Alorael, who has had no problems with the non-Universal Geneforge beyond automap update delays. The Universal patch has continued the trend of no problems. That's probably good.
Garrulous Glaahk Serene Tempest
I think I found a minor bug. Learned Koblar (I don't think I spelled it right) will tell me where I can find a boat off the island before I've done anything to help the Awakened (or used the leadership-enabled dialogue option). I hadn't even left the town yet, and the only reputation answer I gave should have hurt my standing with them.
Chittering Clawbug TJC Shaper
im using a brand new computer with 4k dual processor alot of memory and ram still laggs 8400 geforce card
Fledgling Fyora Lempa
Wow, this game uses around 90% of my CPU. Is this normal? I'm using a MacBook C2D 2Ghz with 2Gb of RAM.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
That sounds a bit high, but I never checked and I have a much older system where I can multitask without a problem. GF5 is more demanding in its graphics calls than earlier games, but the update of GF1 to more recent computers shouldn't affect that. Garrulous Glaahk Lyric
does this version have updated graphics?
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
No. The update is so GF1 can run natively on both Power PC and Intel chip computers. This should speed up play for Intel chip computers.
Curious Artila CrouchingOwl
If I registered a previous edition of the game will I have to pay for it again to get the intel version or will it just work like reregistering when I switch computers?... or am I missing something altogether here?
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
If you have a previous edition of Geneforge 1 and are upgrading on the same computer, then the registration is contained in the preference file and the new version will work using it. The save game folder is now in Documents, so you will have to move old saved games if you want to play them. If you have the CD-ROM version then install the old version on a new computer and then download the new version to upgarde. If you are transferring to a new computer and only have the old download version, then you will need to contact Jeff explaining your old registration information so he can send you a new key to register the new version on the new computer. Chittering Clawbug Fringy MacGee
Works like a charm on my intel. Still no way to play in windowed mode, huh?
