Uberdhizon
OK, so you know in the stoneworks, how there is the room with the golems that are still alive and will attack if you get close? I found a peaceful way to get by, although you might consider it cheating. Change to combat mode and then go through one by one. They don't attack! I'm a genius! Is this something Jeff should be informed about?
Lilith
This isn't a bug. There are quite a few places where going into combat mode makes it easier to sneak past enemies. It was even easier in previous games, when you could still use Haste to increase your action points and cover a greater distance in one round. Uberdhizon
And Jeff has known about it, and yet it is still there? I consider it a glitch, even— nay, especially— if it happens over and over again.
Lilith
The game is supposed to be beatable without doing any fighting at all, at least in theory.
Uberdhizon
Although I agree, the game SHOULD BE that way, I think that this way of accomplishing such a goal should not be possible. It makes no sense. If this were real life, would preparing for battle against four golems make them not notice you?
Hecate
I might possibly have a real glitch here?? Or I've missed something. I went through and killed the golems, only discovering the helpful ones later, dang, they died uselessly. Saved game. Went into the control room thing and got stupidly killed as the machine fired up and I couldn't get out. Reloaded & left stoneworks, sold some crystals and otherwise faffed around, went back, buffed up, and now the machine won't come on again. I've tried all the switches again, and I get the no power message. But there's sparklies in the tracks and the other switch panels around the area have been activated. Lilith
Combat mode itself is a pretty artificial game mechanic and it's probably better that you just accept that it works the way it works instead of trying to unpick the logic behind it. Have you made sure to go all the way into the room, and that all your creations are in there with you? The door won't close behind you until all of you have gone some distance inside. Hecate
Ah. Yes, that would be it. Door closed but I hadn't got the message. Wander up and down a few times at the back of the room, and eventually it turned up. Sorry. And thanks.
Uberdhizon
I just got into that room, and I turned both of the mechanism thingymazoids down, but it kept going and I couldn't get anywhere! What do I do next?
Ohtar
Click to reveal.. Keep turning them down, going back and forth between the two panels. At least, that's what I did. Work on the locked door lever when you can.
Lilith
This is an annoying part. You basically just have to keep turning the power down so you don't die and waiting for stuff to happen. Check the southeast lever repeatedly: the messages you get from it will change over time. Eventually you'll get into a fight: soon after that, you'll be able to check the lever again and get out. Uberdhizon
How do I not get killed by the Guardian Roamers? Can I like pull the lever back or something? Edit: Never mind, I just figured out that I can jam a stone in. But what do I do after it cracks?
Lilith
For this part, you'd better be good at killin' roamers, because that's what you gotta do. You could try casting Daze if you have it, so that they don't all attack you at once. Turn the difficulty down if you're still having problems. If you honestly can't beat them even then, go back to your last saved game (remember, there's always the autosave) and do some other stuff to gain levels. edit: Huh, I never even knew you could jam the lever. Keep messing around with it, I guess.
Uberdhizon
I tried to jam it again, but it cracked too fast for me to get there in time. Edit- I found out that if you do it fast enough, you can jam the lever an infinite amount of times. But it's really hard. Yippee, anyway! Randomizer
It's possible to avoid all damage, but if you stay buffed and work on the door out and the nearest control you can still get out. It's easier without creations since they suck up damage. Click to reveal.. If you rotate through the 2 controls and 2 levers you can avoid all damage
A less presumptuous name.
Haha I feel stupid. I walked in, the thing started charging up, so I turned down the things a few times (I didn't realize it kept working, just thought I was getting the same message over and over again). When I opened up the guardian roamers and killed them, I stayed in that room (with regen aura on the whole time) until it stopped shooting out energy. I started working on the other door, and eventually opened it. I try to avoid fights, but I still ended up killing every single golem in there. (with help from the second set of aiding golems.)
