I think Blades of Avernum itself is a better game, but Blades of Exile has a much larger collection of scenarios.

I know that trying BoA solely with the Valley scenario does not lend a favorable impression. It is better to sample it with one of the high quality after-market scenarios before judging. It is a shame that that isn't possible without having friends with full access to BoA, and may be a contributing factor to the poor sales realized by the game. I would think that having a time limit, and full access to all 4 included scenarios (at the least) would have increased the hype and enthusiasm for BoA.

Maybe if he had developed 3 new scenarios instead of the 1 + the three ports, it would have made more money.
