Erunno
Hi all, I'm trying to enter Zhass-Uss but everyone is hostile there. This wouldn't be surprising as I'm allied with the Shapers back in Drypeak but the Taker spies I met earlier said that I could go to Zhass-Uss and reconsider former allegiances. Not sure how this is possible if everyone attacks me on sight. Have I missed anything or possibly offended some Takers?
Brock The Archmage
type SHIFT+D on the main game screen. Then type pleaselikeme without any spaces. This should make them forgive whatever you did unless it was something very major, like entering Benerii-Uss and killing, or something like that. Dikiyoba
A quick look at the script for the area makes Dikiyoba suspect that they're hostile because you're allied with another faction, but Dikiyoba can't be certain.

Thanks for the tip but I'll refrain from using cheats. I'm playing a zealous Shaper loyal to the council so I guess it's natural that some factions will be less forthcoming. A message tells something similar upon entering Zhass-Uss. It's just that I was a little bit irritated because the Taker spies made it sound like you would get the chance to revoke former allegiances. Ah well, I guess it's time for a massacre once I find out how to get past these pesky mines. ;-)

Geneforge 1 had these spore sticks which triggered certain mines from a safe distance but so far I haven't found anything similar in part 2. To make it worse, the mines aren't triggered by creations either and my shaper is a weakling who can't survive a punch in the belly, much less an explosion which causes 140+ damage. The Mystic
You need buffs. Lots of buffs. And a good amount of health. And the ability to do some high-level healing. Walk through the mines slowly, preferably in combat mode, making sure that only one mine goes off at a time. Then when you've taken the damage, heal and move to trigger the next mine. Repeat this process until you're across.
Dikiyoba
I don't think augmentation exists in G2, but I think shielding does. That might help. Mines probably do magic/energy damage, so any equipment you have that will help you resist it will help. If that doesn't get you through, you might have to come back in a few levels. Dikiyoba. The Mystic
I just checked; you can cast Augmentation in G2, as well as Essence Shield/Armor and Steel Skin. All of these are good buffs against mines, and are best used together.
Erunno
Well, in the meantime I managed to finish Geneforge 2. In the end it proved to be unnecessary to enter Zhass-Uss at all although it was possible from the north (from Shade Patrol) where the entrance was not mined. After entering the city I cleansed the city and deactivated the mines with some triggers. Anyway, thanks to all for all helpful hints. Now, on to Geneforge 3 :-)
