Xaiya
Apparently, Jeff will, after a while, rewrite the first half of the Avernum series to the A6 engine (which will probably be very similar to the A5 engine). I wonder if he would do this to BoA too. How many people want this to happen? I think it would be interesting if he did. Thoughts?
John S
The A5 engine is less wonky, both in terms of bugs and actual mechanics. But trusted sources say BoA was a flop. I cannot see Vogel investing the significant amount of time for a product which didn't sell well the first time. The change would also break scenarios, and/or force others to update. Randomizer
I doubt that Jeff will put much effort in a Blades game for a few years. He has GF5 and A6 to complete and he wants to create the new game to hopefully start a sucessful series.

Nioca
There is not enough profanity in the English language to express my incredible distaste for this idea. Which, for my sake and the sakes of everyone under 15 here, is fortunate. To put it bluntly, I've always liked the BoA engine as it is, save for some annoying glitches that could be fixed, and I don't want to see it tinkered with (except to remove aforementioned annoying glitches). Lazarus.
Agreed. Not expecting it to happen, and not interested even if it should.
Swimmin' Salmon
With profanity, it is nice to use multiple languages. Just sayin'. Also, updating BoA other than making it compliant with new operating systems seems to be a rather silly idea.
Sleeping Dragon
So you don''t want Jeff to make another Blades? I didn't think the engine was that bad. If anything, I think it would be more user friendly as the engine is more user friendly. Easier to use means more scenarios made, this is a good thing, no? Kelandon
I don't think that the later Avernum engine is more user-friendly, at least not for designing purposes. The scripts are still about the same, and the seamless world probably would be harder to design in, not easier. Part of me does wish that the balance in the default spells and skills in BoA could be fixed. As has been said before, BoE benefited from being the best spell-and-skill system that Jeff had ever designed, and BoA has suffered from being the worst. BoE scenarios were fun just because it was fun to play BoE, and BoA scenarios have to rewrite the engine to accomplish the same thing. But more of me would rather just see Jeff make more of the games that he's really good at, and he's really good at making the GF4/A5-style games, not the Blades games. Pig Catapult
I personally hate-hate-hate-hate the A4+ games and their engine. The old, slightly-clunky gameplay style of the old Avernum games is what I fell in love with, and the new engine just strips away all the little gameplay quirks and tricks I enjoyed so much, and replaces them with a more "streamlined" system that is completely different in a very bad way. I don't want to see a Blades of Avernum 2. Ever.
Xaiya
I have thought about it some more and now I realize. It just wouldn't work. It sounds interesting, but it probably wouldn't work. I don't want any updates, I was just saying of how I heard he was going to do that in a few years with the other Avernum games. BoA is good as it is. I basically agree with the rest of you. I would be not at all interested in a rewrite of A1-3. Nor would I want BoA to be upgraded to the A6 mechanics. It would interesting and perhaps nice to have a separate BoA2 based on the A6 mechanics, but I don't think he'll do it for the same reason I don't think he will create a BoG*.*Blades of Geneforge
Callie
I personally like the old-school look and want to keep it that way. The graphics in the post A3 games are just plain clunky anyways. Ishad Nha
How about add only the terrain and objects classification of Geneforge/A4/A5? The distinction between terrain and objects is useful and solves a few design problems? Ditto, add any new calls from the new games if the calls are worth having. Sleeping Dragon
I guess the part I dislike most about the BoA engine is the way walls work, like how they are only on one side of a square, making building that much more annoying to design. I prefer the modular walls of the new Avernums, and I think a continuous world would be more manageable as well. Oh, well, I suppose I have little right to talk here, having never finished a scenario myself.
Niemand
What have we done to bring down such evil upon us? Also, Where does this dread prophesy appear? I can find no reference to it outside of this thread.
