Curious Artila Farrun Dragon
Hi! so, i couldn't figure out how to get in to a couple rooms in avernum 3. anyone care to explain them? -south east corner of vahnatai building in upper avernum -doorless room in new cotra (i think...) -back area of erika's tower
Magnificent Ornk Swimmin' Salmon
The doorless room in New Cotra is opened by fulfilling quest parts. During your search for the cause of the plagues, you gain clues. After so many, you are allowed into that room, where you can discuss your intentions and have a weapon made to combat the enemy. The SE corner is the same, revealed at a certain time. Not sure about Erika's tower though.
Ineffable Wingbolt aka Ravenwing
I know you can't get into Erika's inner sanctum. I think you can get into the northernmost room though, if I remember correctly. Enter the town from the back, I believe there's some kind of trash heap, and there might be a secret passage somewhere back there.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
For a discussion of Erika's hidden inner sanctum see here. There isn't anything of value there, but some people just have to see for themselves.
Garrulous Glaahk Cavanoskus
You people should know better than to sneak into a lady's private rooms. Especially one like Erika.
Curious Artila Farrun Dragon
also, what happens if you are in the tower of magi when day 160 (supposedly the day of the attack) hits?
Garrulous Glaahk Pig Catapult
That would be interesting to know. I'm also curious about this.
Unflappable Drayk Toby-Linn
Maybe it won't change until you leave and come back? Anyways, I propose an experiment! Who'll volunteer? I don't have any saved games that are close to day
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
You can always use the character editor to reset the game day forward to 159 on a copy of your game. I doubt going back will give the same result.
Unflappable Drayk Toby-Linn
Yeah, but you also have to do the slime quest so that they actually let you go up to the Tower of Magi. Anyways, I'm not playing Avernum 3 currently, I'm playing Avernum 4 now. My challenge was to anyone who's currently playing Avernum 3 Though, I will definitely try it when I play Avernum 3 again. Unflappable Drayk Toby-Linn
haha, first I played Avernum 3, then Avernum 2 then Avernum 5 and now I'm trying to finish Avernum 4....I know, it's confusing to me too! I say trying to finish cause I started playing once but never finished it. Still have to finish Avernum as well!
Curious Artila Farrun Dragon
lol i have the unregistered version, but i'll wait. im gonna get into the tower before it blows. rest assured, i'll be back when i find out what happens! The place gets ravaged by demons, due to one of Linda's experiments. You have to meet with one of the triad mages in the room that's usually blocked. You then have to find Linda, the source of the experiment, who you kill with a special knife. I'm surprised I remember that much, as I haven't played Exile III in years. I'm assuming the same thing happens in Avernum 3, but I never took that long to finish it.
Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
Yes, the same thing happens in A3, and the effects are seen in the Tower Colony in A4. But you missed the question. It's not what happens that late in the game, it's what happens if you hit the point in the game where the ToM disaster strikes while sitting around sipping cave slime juleps in the Tower. —Alorael, who would like to think that you die suddenly and inexplicably. Jeff usually isn't quite that mean, though. Not quite.
Curious Artila Farrun Dragon
i did it! for a full story, pm me, but in a nutshell, nothing happend. i had too leave, even when io waited to day 161 inside the tower, and i had to talk to anaxamnder(?) or salamander, or what ever his name is. its actually an interesting story when told in full. does anyone know where i can find carrie in the tower when the demons hit? Understated Ur-Drakon Tyranicus
You know, every time I play A3, I always have to advance the time with the Editor to play through the ToM sequence because I end up finishing everything in Valorim but the Keep of Tinraya around Day 120 or so. Unflappable Drayk Lazarus.
I've gotten the ToM sequence legitimately in E3, but never A3. I seem to remember even getting it in the E3 demo-- yeah, I spent a LOT of time on E3 back in the day.
Well-Actually War Trall Micawber
One of the things about Exile, compared with Avernum, was that your health and spell points didn't come back automatically, so you needed to rest outdoors. Depending how much resting you did, this advanced the day counter substantially. Also, food didn't count towards your weight limit so again this made resting more attractive. Magnificent Ornk Drakefyre
They did come back automatically - just really, really slowly
Well-Actually War Trall Micawber
I know they did in towns; did they restore automatically outdoors? If so it must have been so slow I never noticed (despite multiple playthroughs of each game...)
Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
Yes. In some versions of Windows E3, at least, long wait worked outside and was, in fact, better than resting. —Alorael, who managed to plow through most of E3 without bothering to rest. It's those days that just keep ticking past, urging him on.
Curious Artila Farrun Dragon
hey, anyone know where in the tower i can find carrie or her gost after the tower goes boom?
Unflappable Drayk Toby-Linn
I seem to remember a female ghost in one of the four corners...? Doesn't she help us with something, or give us a clue on how to defeat the demons?
Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
There's a ghost who does something useful, possibly having to do with Move Mountains, and Carrie, who as I recall just pines for Bernard and actually has no quest or special information. —Alorael, who hasn't played through the ToM disaster in quite a while. He could be a bit confused. Apocalyptic destruction can do that.
Curious Artila Farrun Dragon
the ghost in the hidden room teaches divine host, but other than that... bernard doesnt actually give a quest, its just a favor thing
