Curious Artila Silterethene
Hello everyone, I've played through the Trilogy a couple of times now, and I'm intending to do it all again, once the Uni semester is over. I've some questions that I've always wondered about, so hopefully someone can provide the answers. Thanks in advance! Do the exotic arrows function as they should? When using bolts of life, acid bolts, arrows of light etc, they never seemed to have the effect that they're supposed to. The acid arrows never caused acid damage, demons/undead never took extra damage from arrows of light/bolts of life. Is this an Av 1 problem? Do the archers cloak, archer's ring etc, affect damage? Or only the hit percentage. Has anyone ever found where to purchase pathfinder? The hint book says Fort Dranlon, but I've never, ever found it. And just for interests sake, is there any reason why Melee damage is capped at 99(?) whilst spells seem to have no such limit. (Fireblast is a good example). Thanks once again. Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
The arrows should work as advertised for extra damage. Archer cloaks and rings should increase the damage by extra levels, but with the random factor of damage per level you usually don't notice it. Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
You can't get Pathfinder in Fort Dranlon. I can't remember where you do, and it may only be from mind crystals. —Alorael, who has decided to change his choice of capitalization for items. This seems like a good time for all sorts of changes. Unflappable Drayk Toby-Linn
According to the Avernum Gazetteer, there's a pathfinder mind crystal in the giants fort east of Bargha. Searched walkthroughs and stuff, but could find no other reference.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
I finally remember that Pathfinder is available in Fort Draco from the food merchant in the southwest west near the south gate.
Curious Artila Silterethene
Actually, Carlos sells you Cave Lore, not Pathfinder, but cheers The arrows are still a mystery. For acid, a "Resists acid" message doesn't even appear. Shame. I've Avernum 1.02. Got anything to do with it? Thanks for the replies. You can only get Pathfinder through a mind crystal--and if I remember correctly, there's only one such item.
Unflappable Drayk Toby-Linn
Yes, that's what I said....see my post above for the location
Easygoing Eyebeast The Mystic
(checks thread again, reads that post you mentioned, slaps self in the forehead) Oops. More proof: The best place to hide anything from anyone is where it can most easily be found. I must be going blind in one eye and deaf in the other. Unflappable Drayk Toby-Linn
Haha....maybe the little man on your shoulder is talking so loudly he's drowning out hearing in one ear? And I don't know about your vision....are you wearing an eye patch?
Easygoing Eyebeast The Mystic
Eye patch? No, but I do wear glasses (I'm a little nearsighted). And when my previous post is read correctly, it's really my other eye that's deaf, not the ear. The "blind in one eye, deaf in the other" thing originated from a slip of the tongue I did about 8 or 9 years ago now, before I even knew these boards existed. The actual phrase I had meant to say as the time was something like, "blind in one eye, can't see out the other," and it came out, "blind in one eye, can't hear with the other." Since then, it's become a kind of running gag whenever I or someone I know is looking for something, and it turns out to be right in front of them. Unflappable Drayk Toby-Linn
LOL, I didn't even catch that you said the eye was deaf until now, so I guess I'm blind too... It must be my glasses as well as yours
