South tower sentinel

Hi, I am trying to do the quest in Solbergs tower where I beat up on the sentinel to test its runes. I get through the first three sets of tests on it, but on the fourth no matter how much I damage it, I do not get a completion for that set of runes. It eventually runs out of magic and I have to start the whole process over. Am I missing something here or is this a bug? Thanks.

You have to keep changing the damage type you use on the sentinel. Watch the messages at the bottom to see the amount that actually penetrates to damage it. Physical, fire, cold and energy (repel spirit and lightning) are needed at different times.

 

It might help to summon a few creations before you start to add to the damage. Also distribute wands among the fighters.

Hmmm. I have been trying this for an hour now. That 4th set of runes is just not working. With the first three runes, within a few rounds it had switched to the next, but this one I can get the sentinel within an inch of its life and still nothing. I have tried every type of attack (magic and physical) and it still won't work.

I was having the same problem for a while. The only thing I found that did much was spray acid. I have a mage and a shaman so I used both of them and hastened them so they could both get two shots each time. If you have acid scrolls you could use those too. This may not help you depending on what type of characters you have, but I finally beat it that way.
