Rotghroth Rhapsody Contra
Anyone actually found a use for these in the game? Not the living but the oldschool things just named "tools". Is there a use? In any of the Geneforge games?
Rotghroth Rhapsody Walter
I think they have enough value in Geneforge 3 to get you a few coins when sold to a shop, but beyond that no, no more useful than a pillow, or basket, or a spoon, or an unsellable trowel (for some reason some trowels can be sold for 1 coin, others 0), or simple trash for that matter. Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
The phrase "unsellable trowel" makes me erupt in gales of laughter for no particularly sound reason.
Magnificent Ornk Student of Trinity
Now you got me doing it. How about that becomes the new insult, replacing the too-controversial 'lagot'? "You unsellable trowel!" is pretty crushing.
Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
One would have to say that even being a sellable trowel is bad enough. Having seen the quality of some garden implements that have changed hands at local garage sales, being an unsellable one adds considerable insult to injury. Rotghroth Rhapsody Contra
Sure is a more inventive insult than plain swears.

If it is like earlier Geneforge games, at some point you'll be asked to deliver the item 'Shaper Tools' to someone in order to construct/build a special item. I try to keep one instance of each item in storage, because in earlier Vogel games, you sometimes have to deliver a mundane item to make someone happy. For instance, someone may want a board game and dice, or a towel, or a trowel ... etc.
Garrulous Glaahk mok
No, you can save that slot for something else. The only thing the "tools" are good for is 5 lousy coins. No quests for 'em. Without giving away too much in the way of spoilers, I will say there are 2 quests for mundane items, and 3 spots to turn in unlimited items of a certain type. I think that's about it. Rotghroth Rhapsody Hawk King
YOU ARE ALL UN-SELLABLE TROWELS !!!!
Magnificent Ornk Student of Trinity
Hawk King thinks I'm an unsellable trowel. Hey, it works!
Well-Actually War Trall Dolphin
Hawk King is an unsellable trowel for hyphenating "un-sellable trowel".
Easygoing Eyebeast Zeviz
While we are talking about quest items, is there a quiet for metal bars in this game, or should I stop carrying them around and sell them to the first merchant I meet? Magnificent Ornk Student of Trinity
No iron quest, sell 'em all.
Kyshakk Koan Hume
I got a hammer which was enchanted with avoid blows. I cant get it work since I cant equip it.
Curious Artila Beamup
Reminds me of E3's book with the 'returning missile' ability. Useless since you can't equip it as a weapon, but apparently meant for "throwing the book" at people!
Rotghroth Rhapsody Contra
Did the book actually do damage?
Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
Obviously not, since there was no way to use it as a weapon.
Rotghroth Rhapsody Contra
More like an easter egg then.
Rotghroth Rhapsody Walter
In Avernum 3 I found a rope enchanted with +1 pathfinder.
Rotghroth Rhapsody Contra
Was it entitled something special or just "rope"?
Magnificent Ornk Drakefyre
There was also Trash with +2 Strength. You can use some mundane items for quests (Gob, fix the vat).
Rotghroth Rhapsody Walter
It was a rope (non equipable item weighing 3 pounds worth 1 coin), I'm not sure but I think it was in the tower of the magi. Noticed it cause it had a [+] in the game.
Magnificent Ornk Kelandon
I remember that. I think I took it home with me in hopes that I might find some use for it, but I never did.
Seasoned Roamer also aswell
I'm doing a strictly moral playthrough this time and steal trowels, both sellable and unsellable, only from the bad side. This way they starve as they have no way to weed their gardens. Conversly, I dump the extra unsellable ones where they may do the most good. And I never steal them from the good guys. Well-Actually War Trall Micawber
That moral thing of aswell's sounds a bit like a friend of mine (the one who introduced me to Exile all those years ago - cheers!). She would always carry cursed items to a hostile dungeon before dropping them, so as not to harm the friendly locals.
