Curious Artila Critical_Failure
I remember this object from a previous playing, and after a haitus of a couple of years, I have realised that I enjoy the comments produced by this item. Can someone please tell me where to find him/her/it?
Understated Ur-Drakon The Almighty Doer of Stuff
The Xian skull is on a hill near Bolton in A3, I believe. It's being worshiped by some ogres.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
It's east of the river and south of Golddale and the nephil community. What's with giant types worshipping a talking skull? You have it in Nethergate also,
Magnificent Ornk Dikiyoba
Maybe talking skulls know a bunch of jokes that make fun of regular-sized people and their strange ways. Dikiyoba.
Easygoing Eyebeast The Mystic
I don't really care for the Xian Skull; it says a lot of meaningless comments, and has very little (if any) useful information.
Easygoing Eyebeast Xaiya
But he makes references to deli sandwiches! How can you not like him?
Easygoing Eyebeast The Mystic
Because in the middle of a large battle, it told me no less than five times to buy it a hat.
Understated Ur-Drakon Callie
"Hi, I'm a talking skull" Yeah, don't ya dare call me sword here "dopey" or y'all give you and egg for an eye. Darned skull. A skull can't be darned, but oh well.
Garrulous Glaahk Starman1985
Why did you say darned instead of damned?
Understated Ur-Drakon Callie
Anything can be "damned" because it means to curse or condemn. "Darn" means to fix a hole in a sock. Xian items are irksome overall, there's only fun for a short duration of time.
Easygoing Eyebeast The Mystic
Except for the coin, since I'm always strapped for cash.
Understated Ur-Drakon Callie
If I remember correctly, the Xian coin granted insufficient quantities of money to make it effective.
Easygoing Eyebeast The Mystic
True, but every little bit helps, especially if you're just one or two coins away from something you want to buy. This has happened to me on a few occasions.
Garrulous Glaahk Starman1985
Wouldn't killing week enemies be quicker than the Xian Coin, I tossed the coin the minute I got it and very rarely went back to pick it up again.
Easygoing Eyebeast The Mystic
Quicker? Under most circumstances, yes. But I just happened to be in a town and one gold short for a purchase when the coin's ability kicked in. I guess it was probably just luck (but not the character ability "luck"). Curious Artila DOA Assassin
i agree all xian items are for fun, thats it. and coins add lots of weight over time. just train barter and merch.
Easygoing Eyebeast The Mystic
Money adds weight? That's news to me, and I've been playing Jeff's games for almost a decade now.
Magnificent Ornk Ephesos
Coins do not, in fact, add any weight to your inventory.
Easygoing Eyebeast The Mystic
I didn't think they did. Good news for me, because I tend to hoard cash.
Garrulous Glaahk Lepus timidus
Xian Coins are probably the only useful Xian Item in Avernum 3.
