Kyshakk Koan La paix
Because of my hideous computer you may have heard about, N:R doesn't work in any way shape or form. It is Mac OS 10.0.4 (Build 4Q12) Memory 256 MB (everything is sorted out with memory. I really have something like one gig virtual memory.) Processer Power PC G3. Neither the normal nor the older mac version work. I downloaded it on a good computer and mounted it to a flash drive to put it on the only computer I can always use. The good one is Intel and needs to rest it's processers a lot and recently had serious battery problems, ergo, I can't really play N:R on it and must use this horrible, bug-infested, digitally moldy computer. Is there any way on Earth to fix this hideous bug?!?!
Magnificent Ornk Kelandon
Have you tried rebooting in OS 9 and then trying the Older Macs version?
Kyshakk Koan La paix
I'm afraid so. Classic seems not to work on this computer. When I launch it, an error dialog comes up that says that the application HotBurn AutoLaunch failed to launch because of a shared library error. I tried with sharing on and off with no effect. I've tried everything I can think of with these limited resources.
Chittering Clawbug Duskwolf
Sounds like you've got something screwy installed in your OS 9 partition. Try changing your extension set to Mac OS 9 Base (use the Extensions Manager control panel to do this) and see if that fixes things.
Kyshakk Koan La paix
Tried. Failed. Apparently, it's not an extension because the error still occured.
Understated Ur-Drakon Tyranicus
The version for older Macs is not for OS 9, but for PPC OS X. Some systems don't like the Universal Version very well for whatever reason. Anyway, you need 10.3 or later to run N:R, so I hate to tell you this, but you're out of luck. Also, why in the world are you running 10.0? Apple released 10.1 as a free upgrade to all 10.0 users. (Not that that helps you much for N:R, but it should still be done due to all the myriad instabilities and issues with 10.0). If your Mac has USB capability, it can be upgraded to 10.3. You can buy 10.3 discs on eBay for $50 or less.
Kyshakk Koan La paix
Ah well. That's ok. I will be back to my more modern 10.4 computer at home in four days, so I need not worry. I was just hoping to play it before then. But thanks for the help!
Understated Ur-Drakon Tyranicus
Also, what in the world do you mean when you say the Intel Mac needs to rest its processor?
Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
I would assume what he means is that he has overheating problems with it.
Kyshakk Koan La paix
Actually, it's battery recently exploded (pried itself open due to heat) even though it isn't a recall model. Even with the new battery, it gets incredibly hot incredibly fast. I will be back in America really soon to try and fix it, for there may be a real problem. There aren't many good Apple specialists in Paris. Luckily, this isn't my home computer, and it may be covered by BYU for their faulty program computer that is only 10.0. They probably won't ever replace it, sadly. What I mean is, I had to use the Intel laptop because of their dumb computer. Topic change: it is shifting to the laptop now.
