Chittering Clawbug Fireball Fodder Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Does anyone know if a list of stats for all the creatures in Exile II can be found somewhere online? I know a similar list exists for items. Quote
Tenderfoot Thahd Kass Posted November 10 Posted November 10 I think this is something I can help with. I can’t give you a list of the creature stats directly, but I can tell you how to generate one yourself. Load up Exile II and load a saved game, or start a new one. Go to the ‘Library’ menu in the menu bar, and in the dropdown menu select ‘Monster Roster’. This will bring up a list of the various creatures in the game, including all the stats that define them, as if you had used ‘Scry Monster’ on them. This might sound too good to be true, but that information is rationed to avoid breaking the game too much. Only lower-level monsters will appear in that list for a new game, for instance. As the game progresses, more monsters appear in the list, until eventually every creature is in there (except for unique characters, like Erika). I’m not sure what it is that determines how many creatures are in the list. I don’t think it’s game progression directly, or what creatures have been encountered, or even party level or experience. I think it might be down to one of the character stats, perhaps Mage Lore or Intelligence. If you want access to all this information at once, there should be quick way to do it. Start up a new game, and use the Editor to max out the stats on one of your party members (or just Mage Lore and Intelligence, if you really want to test my guess). Then go into the monster roster. If I’m right, you’ll be able to see all the creature stats straight away! If that doesn’t work, you can get the same information by loading up a saved game with an advanced party, if you have one to hand. Quote
Chittering Clawbug Fireball Fodder Posted November 10 Author Posted November 10 Thanks for the reply. It actually says in the game help that the monsters available in the Library are determined by your party's Mage Lore skill. I tried editing my party's Mage Lore (and Intelligence, for good measure) and it worked, though some monsters are still missing from the Library - all the unique characters, Doomguard, Efreet, etc. I was hoping that someone may have already made the list, as my intent was to compare the data for various monster across all the Exile games and see how they changed. As I'm not a code digger, I can't extract them from the game executables. I managed to find the data for all Exile I monsters on a website, and Exile III monsters are practically identical to the ones in Blades of Exile (except for the unique characters). So I guess the only way to find the missing monsters for Exile II will be to play through the whole game again and Scry them. Quote
Tenderfoot Thahd Kass Posted November 12 Posted November 12 I should have thought the mechanic would have been explained in the library. That’s my bad. It’s not necessary to play through the game to find all the special creatures. I had an idea about that, and it panned out. Ages ago, Ess-Eschas showed me how to add any creature I wanted into a Soul Crystal, through somewhat nefarious means. The idea was to play around with high level monsters in a fun way. But it actually really helps in this context, because I can just plug in the special creatures from the game, summon them, and scry them one by one. It only took a few minutes, and it might save you hours of hunting, especially since it’s not clear exactly which monsters are special and which are not without a lot of looking around. I put together this graphic for you, which I think covers all the creatures which are not in the roster. The only exceptions are the many duplicates of the Merchant creature. I think there are about 8 of those, all with different graphics, but I think the stats are the same. I hope this is helpful for you. Ircher and Fireball Fodder 2 Quote
Chittering Clawbug Fireball Fodder Posted November 13 Author Posted November 13 Wow, that's amazing, thank you so much! 😊 You even got the the weakened form of Garzahd from the first time you encounter him. On a side note, interesting how the maximum monster level seems to be only 14 - it's 40 in Exile III/BoE (though I think the maximum ever used is 39). Quote
