Curious Artila passel
I can't figure out how to sell the extra items I accumulate. I've just registered Avernum 1, but have acquired lots of stuff during the demo phase. When I go to the stores that are supposed to buy items, all I get when I talk to the store owner is his 'sell' window. I can't find any option for him to buy from me. Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
Not all merchants buy items. The items to be sold to merchants are in the character's inventory on the lower right side of the screen. Click on the coin symbol (some copper coins) in the lower left corner of the inventory item to sell at the designated price. Some merchants also buy at different prices. Magnificent Ornk Dikiyoba
Or, put another way, there is no separate window for buying and selling. You can do both at the same time. Dikiyoba.

For the record, I do know that Barter skill lets you get more money for your stuff when you sell it. Which is good, because I tend to spend money as soon as I get it. Understated Ur-Drakon Callie
The differences in prices are minimal, but gaining additional cash is possible if you know where to dump your load.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
It's about 10% more in A3 at Fort Emergence than New Cotra and I think also in A1 between Fort Dranlon and Almaria. It adds up for the more expensive items later in the game.
Chittering Clawbug TJC Shaper
i know the best place to sell stuff go to the fort near the bandit lair (i think its formello) go to the healer. sell your stuff you will get more money than selling it elsewhere (if you have barter it wont effect the selling price at the healer (i dont think at least i had barter at 20 total) thats how i earned most of my cash. and i just take stuff that has some sel value. then i go buy some knowledge brew. (i plan to buy 100 of them so my adventurers would have like lets see here 5 skill points times 25 potions per adventurer is 125 skill points per adventurer i think i spend it on like. endurance get all ppl to have even 20 pts to it. get 20 luck so resist everything. get my fighters some assassination skill up to 20. my hedge wizard get 20 mage & 20 priest 20 intellegence. 20 to first aid (i dont kare) 20 to potion making cause i need alot of potions to escape avernum. have my thief get over 20 tool use just in case i have to pick a lock and i only get a chance of like 50% with magic pick lock mabey some...... well i do need arcane lore for identifying items and learning new spells. some intellegence for everyone wont hurt its just 1 point to it some more cave lore so i can avoid fighting if i want. and i would go buy some good armor for everyone. so they are more likely to live. in avernum 2 and 3 i dont know were to sell items for highest price. i havent started those games yet. im still working on A1 ps. beware the mung demons. and dont get mad at me just because im just trying to help! i know i talk extremely too much but thats not the point! and if you need more room for your cash buy some gemstones. buy some rubies but not too many or the value will go over 9k. thats how i get more than 9k
Unflappable Drayk Lazarus.
You can split stacks of gems so that when you sell them you don't go over the gold cap (I'm assuming that's why you say not to get too many.) Or you could just dump expensive artifacts on the ground if selling them would put you over the limit.

Unflappable Drayk Lazarus.
Well yeah-- I wasn't suggesting you just dump them on the floor and leave them there.
Easygoing Eyebeast The Mystic
That's what I do; I tend to have quite a cache after a while.
