Two-handed or one-handed plus shield?

I am wondering what is better on torment: two-handed high damage weapons or one-handed with shield? Your opinion?

I've gone with one-handed and shield for the bonuses on the shield. Comat usually lasts several rounds so having defense makes up for extra damage.

Two handed generally doesn't seem to give benefits strong enough to be worth it. It depends on exactly what gear you have though; at any given point in the game your "best" weapons might be a two-hander and there are edge situations where the damage boost from the two-hander is worth it (e.g, the first few boards of Avadon 2 the iron spear is worth it because it often makes the difference between one-shotting adn two-shotting enemies). Late game once you have lots of benefits from each piece of gear it's usually worth the shield, especially for boss fights where the defenses make a big difference over time and most of your damage is from abilities anyway.
