Note that you can also get an improved Ro reputation by dedicating forts to Diplomacy (+3R for each dedication) and by "crafting" improvements at the Tower of the Erudico (+2R for Charity to Ro, +4R for Gift to Ro, +6R for Offering to Ro, and +8R for Respect to Ro.)

General Advice: At the start of the game, you are advised to just be honest. THIS IS BAD ADVICE. Learn to tell people what they want to hear, and learn to know what that is -- this is the essence of diplomacy.

I don't have a file where I can quickly test the first 3 bonuses, but the final Erudico bonus (Respect to Ro) gives a +8 bonus to Ro rep.

I would hypothesize that the first three give +2, +4 and +6, then. So you can get a total of +32 rep this way.

Oh, there's also Pillars, which is a pretty good way to get some Ro points. There are 4 opportunities to play the game, and for each of them, if you bow back or ask to play again, you get +1R.

If you have at least 140 Ro rep on the third game, you win it, getting you another +2R. You only need 120 Ro rep to win the fourth game, which also gives an extra +2R if you win. Saying "I won at last" also gets you +1R, so you can pick that instead of bowing if you do win.

"Your game is foolish and savage" naturally gets you -1R

Queen's Reputation

This score has the least impact on the game, but has a major impact on its finale, almost certainly reflected in the code you receive to carry over into Queen's Wish 3: The Final Conflict (or whatever it ends up being subtitled.) It determines what judgement you receive from Queen Sharyn, which is in turn reflected in the end text.

35 or greater: "I have been very pleased by your words and actions. Haven shall count itself very lucky to have you as its servant."

20 to 34: "I have been pleased by your words and actions. You still have things to learn, of course, but Haven is very lucky to have you as its servant."
10 to 19: "You have improved, but ... Your words and actions have shown you to need correction. You don't understand Haven's ways, and I have not approved of some of your actions. You will still be a favored servant, my child, but you still have things to learn."
9 or less: "I am sorry to have to say. Your words and actions have shown you to need much correction. You don't understand Haven's ways, and I have greatly disapproved of your words and actions. You will still be a favored servant, my child, but you have so much to learn. We will not forget it."

It is possible to get the highest result and replace both governors, but you will need to utterly toe the Haven line otherwise.

Also, this is probably obvious from context, but would you please add the "Qs" to the end of the following in the list?

"I ordered that the Ro be utterly crushed." +6
"I ordered that the Ro be reclaimed, but slowly and cautiously." +1
"I gave no orders to attack." -12
Approved Yvette +3
Approved Abelin -4
Approved Aato +3
Approved Lawita -4

I can already tell this guide is going to be essential to my min-max-ish playthrough. Great work, again.

This might also be helpful for anyone trying to minmax. You can use the "gsdf" cheat code to check flag values in-game. So, you can check your reps with the following:

"gsdf 80 16" - Ro Reputation

"gsdf 80 7" - Queen Reputation

"gsdf 80 6" - Violence Reputation

From a quick test, this doesn't seem to disable achievements/medals, but I won't make any promises.

Thanks for this.  Playing through with my preferred actions - and damn the lack of a possible replacement for Aato! - I ended with 188/116/78, which seems to have worked out about as well as possible: minimal rebellion, no-one willing to stand against me with the Wolf, improved life for women in Low Draga, and the Queen's approval (although I still kinda suspect Delia's hand in that medicine..).  Choosing to go to Prova Krug didn't seem to annoy the home folks anywhere near as much as I expected!  Looking forward to the next.

I have some questions about the endgame.

Spoiler

I know that there are specific conditions that determine whether the Kranas fight you at Prova Krug, while the Low Dhagans purely care about your Ro Alignment. Do the High Lithians ever challenge you if your Ro Reputation is low enough? And are there any characteristics beyond Reputation with the Ro that determine whether Raasa Suharum gives his approval to the rebellion?

I approved of Yvette and Aato, but I had a fairly strong Ro Reputation overall and I found the ending pretty satisfying. I think I would do things differently with the governors on another playthrough to see what changes the ending.

I put this in another topic, but it's probably worth having in here as well. Here's the reputation you need to avoid the fights in Prova Krug:

Kranas

You must cleanse all groves without damaging them

You must appoint Abelin as governor

Ro reputation must be at least 130 +10 per difficulty (I believe difficulty is 0 for casual and 3 for torment, meaning you need between 130-160 based on what difficulty you're playing)

Low Dhaga

Ro reputation must be at least 150 + 10 per difficulty

If Lawita is the governer, the difficulty is reduced by 15

If you told Lawita their views on women are harmful and you will try to change them, the difficulty increases by 40

You really need to maximize your Ro reputation in order for the Low Dhaga delegation to not fight you if you stayed with Aato, but from the numbers here, it should be possible, even on torment.

Is there ever a situation where the High Lithians fight you in Prova Kruga? I was respectful of the process in both my playthroughs but if you disrespect them there, violence too low perhaps, or maybe something else that would make them fight you? Kinda curious if there are conditions in which Rasa Suharam blesses the rebellion.

Also I think for Low Dhaga you need to tell (even if you are lying about it) that you will not try to change their customs about women in order to not fight them.

The High Lithians never challenge you. Their Raasa is convinced that a war with Haven is a bad idea, regardless of how awful you've been to the Ro.

I re-read through the scripts for Low Dhaga, and it looks like I made a mistake. Saying you want to change their views on women gives a large disadvantage in how much Ro reputation you need, but it should still be possible to avoid their challenge. I'll edit my post with the details.

Scanning through this topic again and trying to tie the info together, it seems that if one's interested primarily in a munchinky min-max-ish run and not too bothered by the ending text re: mom's opinion (and also doesn't care about having a "Haven loyalist" code to use in QW3), Queen ("Q") values can largely be ignored in favor of Ro ("R") values, yes? Of course, there are certainly going to be Ro-friendly moral choices I'm not likely to make, and I know I'm simplifying here, but it seems broadly accurate.

You can also ask your butler Stonehouse what people think of you and he'll give an approximate verbal eval of your standing with each faction. Useful for testing just how much you pissed whoever off with the latest court judgement.

Hi.

What are the in-game (not post-game) effects of Q, R, V?

Personally I would like a cheat code (e.g. STATS, no achievement prevention) that shows Q,R,V.

Given that you have changed the nature of resources, perhaps replace the daily screen with a resource and theft summary, and replace the word "theft" with something else like "corruption" that implies less permanency?  I find it annoying to have to wander around for a day in order to see my new resource and theft levels.

Personally I found it disappointing that I could not implement one solution I would have liked: send Aato to High Litha, send Yvette to Low Dhaga, and send Ivanna to Kranas Woods.  Delia did say she wanted Aato somewhere cold, and I'm sure Yvette trying to deal in Low Dhaga would be ... interesting ... for her, and Ivanna needs to be promoted.

Queen rep does nothing in-game (other than some dialogue changes). Ro rep occasionally offers more shops, and lets you avoid some fights. Violence only comes up once, I think, and if it's high enough you can threaten some enemies out of an encounter.

Sending the governors to different regions is pretty funny, I like that idea.

I'm somewhat bemused. I used the guide to max out my Ro and Queen rep as best as I was able and got a good ending. However, the ending says my words and actions convinced many in the Low Dhaga that the Wolf was fighting for a good cause. I got that text when I replaced Aato and had the Low Dhaga Raasa side with me.

Is that bit of the ending linked to the violence score? The Queen's score? Or is that a permanent bit of the Ro being the Ro?

I'm thinking out loud, but if the reputation system continues in the next game, we need to be able to see it. I mean that we need to be able to see a warning by the dialogue that influences our reputation or we need to have a counting system that is visible without cheats. That may break RPG immersion but it would make the game smoother if could see and count the changes our words and actions are making.

Still not sure why the Low Dhaga thought the Wolf was heroic even if they didn't support the rebels in the end. From the silence, I'm guessing no one else does either. Maybe it has to do with how you deal with the pockets of "peaceful" raiders you encounter?

Yes, but in the older games, it was easier to switch sides and your words weren't quite as important. If I was a rebel in Geneforge I'd still have the option to join the Shapers towards the end of the game. Here in Queen's Wish, more weight is given to words, and it isn't always obvious that each particular bit of dialogue is going to be that important for the end of the game.

For example, you can go Ro by replacing the governors and still have the Raasas turn on you. I think that, if what we say matters as much as what we do, it would make the game a little smoother if we could see our dialogue consequences more readily.

This is flatly not true.  Ironically, it may be that it was less obvious what impact your words were having than it is in this game ;)

You could switch sides midway through all of the games in Geneforge series, or have a change of heart late in the game. The endings weren't as good for such players, but the option was there. There were late-game chances that let you alter reputation, so your early mishaps were more easily fixed. Words were less important as there were options in the game to let you change your mind. Also, the conversations that mattered the most were the ones with the leaders of the factions.

I will agree that Queen's Wish is more blatant with the impact of the reputation system though. That's why I'd like it to be made more obvious that we are changing our reputation and in what way we are doing it. Like I said, a more visible reputation counting system or something along those lines would be good.

Ah, here we see where the point of confusion is.

Joining factions in Geneforge is completely separate from the reputation system.  This is to say, although very extreme reputations might lock you out of extreme factions -- with a few exceptions, joining factions, and completing quests for factions you had already joined, had no impact on reputation whatsoever.

This is to say, QW really does have the same reputation system as Geneforge -- what it doesn't have (or has a very different version of) is "Geneforge factions."

Anyway: the reality is that reputation-changing questions, in dialogue, are almost always extremely obvious.  It's true that you don't know the exact values in play -- is this a +3/+0, a +2/-2, a +0/+1, or does it actually not shift anything?  But I'm also not sure what difference that makes, as a player; there's so many of them and they're all additive.  (Unless you have a very specific powergaming goal that involves minmaxing through rewards that require both low and high reputations, but is there really anything that's worth the bother in this game?)

They can be a little less obvious in QW compared to Geneforge, to be fair. For example, the Queen says she hates how the Dhaga treat their woman, but actually trying to change that lowers your Queen rep on top of your Ro rep, presumably because even though she disagrees with the practice, she doesn't want to rock the boat unnecessarily.

There are also a few checks where not being diplomatic gets you more Ro reputation points. Like telling the chief of Etzae that you don't care what he thinks gets you Ro rep, whereas being diplomatic makes him think you're weak. When you're asked if the blood of the Ro is inside you, you get points for saying sometimes it flows off your sword.

Good point about the reputation versus faction system.

For me, it would make the game easier if I could see the results of my choices numerically or with an in-game chart of some sort. I had a heck of a time figuring out the reputation system on my first go. In fact, I had the Kranas Woods attack me even though I spared all of their groves. With this guide, I found out where I messed up and how to fix it. Without it and its information on the reputation system, I would've been left repeating the game mostly trying to figure out where I went wrong.

Also, as Mechalibur points out, there is dialogue that makes some interactions in QW trickier than they seem.

1) Missing rep changes:
a) In the Low Dhaga section, as an alternative to ""(Just leave.)" -2R" with the young Ro hunters surrounded by lizards, the option "Help them!" gives +2R.
b) Defeating the final group of scorpions east of the Shattered City gives +2R.
c) Defeating Pitmaster Grenich in the arena gives +2R and +2V.
d) Attacking the Geld Nas camped east of Deep Post Anelace gives -3R.

2) Errors:
a) Paying Sparl to free Raiman gives -2R and -3V, not -2R and -2V.
b) "Amberl (Sisilyn) [sp]" should be "Amberl (Isskale)" (with the entry also logically moved below the "Amberl (Ruska)" entry, since Isskale is encountered after Ruska). She isn't ever encountered in Ssilyn, as far as I'm aware.
c) The "(Pull out the sword.)" entry is for Tranquility Path, not Tehrorman as listed. Also, adding an empty line for clarity between the Spiral Mine and this item would be helpful.
d) The line "They will be honored by your interest. Perhaps someday you will, when your current work is done." is spoken by Darmal, not the player character. This is a bit confusing, as it's inconsistent with the rest of the list where the player character's dialogue choices are instead listed as the reputation triggers. Unfortunately, I didn't write down the exact PC dialogue choice that leads to this one.
e) There was another very minor error somewhere (I think it was the difference between +/- 1V vs. 2V), but unfortunately I didn't note it at the time. If I remember later, I'll edit this post to describe the issue, but it's unlikely.

3) Formatting:
Many of the outdoor encounter listings, Sutter and Delia mirror dialogues, and High Litha and Kranas listings are out of logical order in terms of when you're likely to encounter them - e.g. the "Open the coaches." Low Dhaga encounter is in the northern part of the province, but is listed near the top of the section among encounters in the southern half. This is obviously not a critical issue, but as a more chronological ordering may be useful to readers, I thought I'd mention it.

Thank you!

May I ask what you had to do and not do to improve life for women in the Low Dhaga? I'm on my third play through, failed at that the first two times, and honestly it is now my only goal. At the moment I am in a conversation with Filome in Esker Keep, and I closed the dialog box before responding to her petition because I'm concerned this could be a crucial interaction, beyond the whole reputation thing.

Okay, to answer my own question:

On my third play through, I got excellent results. I was able to improve the position of women in the Low Dhaga. The way I did it is to never speak against their treatment of women to a man, and certainly not to a man of authority. But I did tell Low Dhaga women, when asked (or when the opportunity arose), that I would do what I can to improve their situation. After a lot of thought, I reluctantly sent Altynay back to the Low Dhaga. I don't know how much difference that made, but I console myself with the fact that I was later able to improve the situation of all (or most) Low Dhaga women. When asked straight out by Raasa Lawita at Prova Krug, I said Haven always respects the cultures of its vassals. I was worried that saying this would mean the whole thing about women's rights would be left out of the epilogue, but it didn't matter.

The key to changing women's status is to express at least once (to a woman) that you want to, and then focus entirely on keeping your reputation with both the Ro and the Queen very high. When I set foot in Prova Krug for the endgame (playing Casual mode!), I had a reputation of 172 with the Ro and 155 with the Queen. The easiest way to earn points with the Queen is to never antagonize Sutter. Always be supportive and say you will do as he says (even if you hate him and don't intend to do as he says). Weirdly, as someone else noted, nobody back home gets upset if you actually go to Prova Krug to meet the challenge. They only get upset if you tell them you are going. LOL So just lie.

As for the governors, I split the difference. I felt it was important to get Yvette out of there immediately, so I axed her. (←Kranas play on words there.)This of course pissed off Sutter. I think I ended that conversation with something like, "If that's all, I'd like to get back to work." As for Aato, I figured the loss of Queen reputation wasn't worth the benefit of making Lawita governor. I also knew from my first playthrough that making Lawita governor is no guarantee the Low Dhaga won't fight you at Prova Krug. I also thought Captain Azucena in Esker Keep would keep things together. However, according to the epilogue, the Low Dhaga is a complete mess during the rebellion. Maybe I was overly cautious here and could have replaced both governors.

It's "I should meet them. I am part of the Ro."
