Just started EftP after finishing Mutagen 1.  Maybe spoiled by the remaster but there are a few things I'm looking for that I'm not seeing.  The most important one being the ability to right click on enemies and see their resistances and afflictions.  Maybe EftP doesn't show you this, but I'd be surprised.  Maybe it is a skill I get later or there's some kind of look/observe option somewhere...

This next bit is driving me crazy.  The map scrolls *violently* whenever I move the mouse to the periphery of the game window, like when going for the buttons at the bottom.  Is there a way to turn this off that I'm not seeing.  Instantly changed arrow keys to moving the map (as it is in geneforge), but really liked how you could drag the map with the mouse instead of just having my character move around.

Also missing the game displaying how many steps you can actually walk and how many action points it uses.  I suppose someone has probably modded this already but it was a nice QOL addition to mutagen (and I got spoiled.)  Maybe this is why the arrow keys were for movement so you could count AP?

Apologies in advance if this is already answered elsewhere...

Yeah, no.  You have the little health bar under your opponent but that's about it.  Resistances, trial & error/experience rule the day.  Common sense works too.  Fire lizards, don't use fire attacks.  Frozen worms, cold may not be that effective...

There should be a 'scrolling' option in the main 'options' menu (I'm really an not sure as I've never run into this problem)

In the character window during combat there 'should' be an action point counter (I'm replaying A2CS at the moment & it's there, making the assumption that it's similar for A1EFtP).  Using a scroll/wand/potion generally iirc uses 5 action points.  Attacking/casting a spell, 8.  Moving is 1ap per square.  You can do anything as long as you have 1 (or more) points left.  There is no minimum points needed for anything.  Be aware that once you attack/cast a spell you can no longer move that turn (can do other things if you have the points, just not move (in A1 irrc you could step around a corner, toss a ice spray for instance in to a group, & then step back around the corner ... where they would 'not' follow you as they couldn't see you to go into their fight response... ah well.).  I don't remember if you can move after drinking a potion/scroll/wand so maybe experiment in an easy fight.  Moving away from an opponent takes 6ap(?)

Queen's Wish (2019) is the first Spiderweb game to introduce this feature. No prior games have it.

I forget exactly when this feature was introduced- Avadon 2? 3? In any case, it's another thing that wasn't standard in Spiderweb games until very recently. It's not really something that's moddable, unfortunately.

The mage spell, Scry Monster. It'd put the monster type in a sort of bestiary, and also provide up-to-date HP, SP, and Morale for the specific character you're scrying. It uses up 6 AP though, and you usually start with 4. And you have to recast it every time you want up to date stats. Same deal back then about no minimum AP at least. I usually try to fill the Monsters bestiary menu as much as possible.

In Avernum 4 - 6, you could right click to see someone/something's HP. I found it weird that it was taken out for the remakes. You get used to it though.

If you want more of a UI/QoL shock, go back and play the original Avernum, or even Exile.
