meviin
I'm planning out builds for a party of 4 in torment. I'm trying to figure out how much arcane lore I need to plan for my builds. It looks like there's one book that requires 28 total and there's one book that requires 17 total (excluding sage lore). Each character can get 2 arcane lore from trainers. How many total levels of Vahnatai Lore will a party of 4 get?
Punctuation rains from the heavens
It looks like that 28 is for Howl of Terror, which if it's anything like it was in the past, may not be worth 10 extra levels of Arcane Lore to chase after. Randomizer
You can get up to at least 7 levels in Vahnatai Lore in the game if you really try. The 17 is for Summon Shade, but that only adds to the blessings the shade gets on creation. To get a level in Gymnastics you need 11 combined from AL and VL. A combination of buying 8 levels of AL, at least 4 levels of VL, and the rest Sage Lore trait for 15 will get you everything you really want. There is one place in Khoth's Library where you can get a level of AL for the first character.

I'm going for 100% or else I would certainly agree 3 hours ago, Randomizer said: You can get up to at least 7 levels in Vahnatai Lore in the game if you really try. On your list, I only see 6 levels of Vahnatai Lore (also, it looks like you have one of them as "Vahantai" lore), so I just wanted to double check this. Also, to clarify, each of those levels is just a level for one person, not one point for everyone in the party, right? 3 hours ago, Randomizer said: A combination of buying 8 levels of AL, at least 4 levels of VL, and the rest Sage Lore trait for 15 will get you everything you really want. Can you clarify what you mean by 15 for sage lore? I thought that each of your four characters could only get sage lore once for 3 points each, which would only add up to 12. Is there a way to get a 5th character or an extra level of sage lore? Thanks!

VL is a 'special item' so it's a group effect rather than individual knowledge/trait 15 minutes ago, meviin said: Can you clarify what you mean by 15 for sage lore? Each character can only get one Sage Lore/12 total. The 15 (if I'm reading Randomizer correctly) is as a combination of AL/VL/SL that will add up to 15. AL is always counted as one. VL/SL don't always count towards some spell books iirc, but for the vast majority they do count as one each towards AL
Randomizer
15 as a total of AL, VL, and Sage Lore. VL can be bought for one level in Ghirka. Sorry about a typo, but between autocorrect and being tired, they slip in.
Bonam
So is the takeaway here that there is no need to put any skill points from leveling up into Arcane Lore unless one wants the 28 spellbook? Also, what about Nature Lore?
Randomizer
Nature Lore has 8 you can buy, 3 from items, and then there are only a few caches in the north you can't get. The highest is 15. Less to get herb ingredients from patches. Not that it's really worth it for the items.
TriRodent
You also need (fairly high) NL for catching the northern unicorns

Superteeth
About the Howl of Terror book, do Vahnatai Lore and Sage Lore count for learning from that book? I literally never used that spell in A2, but I'm a completionist and that is the only reason I'm going to get it. GodRob
