Collecting Fruit in Vanatok's Stead?

Where exactly am I supposed to collect this fruit to make pickles?

everywhere in stead, those look like pears. you should find more than needed.

They are in many places besides VS. At the start of the game when you first walk into the common area of Camp Nightshade near the bovines you will see the "fruit" looking like pears. I have picked up 23 so far without getting one from VS. The secret is to start a game and always pick them up. You don't realize they are needed until you start the quest in VS so you tend to ignore them when looking over the graphic landscape prior to that point in time. They are most prevalent in green grass orchard-tended areas. Frequently with cows (bovines) nearby. They seem to be a settlement thing.

And what if I eat them all? Jeff seems to have overlooked that they can be used to heal characters.

There are others in other zones, so unless you completely miss the quest-giver, you can do it later.

 

But this is a good question in general. "I ate the key to the Crypt of Drath! What do I do now?"

restart and those aren't best edibles to be used on healing. I had 33 of those before last mission (prolly used some).

 

if ate key to Crypt of Drath then new job will be doorguard to crypt unless some adventurer (aka us) decides to slice belly open to get the key.
