By your reference to "custom maps" I assume it's either Blades of Exile or Blades of Avernum. If it's Blades of Exile, that game was released free of charge a while ago and you don't need to buy anything to use it. Check the Blades of Exile forum for fanmade builds designed to run on modern computers. If it's Blades of Avernum, you can either order it directly from Spiderweb Software's website, or get it as part of the Avernum Saga bundle on Good Old Games, which includes Blades of Avernum as well as Avernum 1-6.
