Fledgling Fyora D+
The downloadable scenarios; will they cost anything?
Magnificent Ornk Drakefyre
No, they are absolutely free.
Well-Actually War Trall Drew
You know, JV really ought to bring the price on his older games down a bit. I can't imagine his sales are that great for the Exile series when the Avernums are available for virtually the same price. I think he'd actually sell a lot more if he dropped the prices a bit. Law of Supply and Demand, and all that, you know?
Unflappable Drayk Jewels
But see, the value for BoE goes up every time a new scenario is made at the same time that it's value goes down for getting old/outdated. He probably would sell more if he lowered the price, but what'cha gonna do? I doubt Jeff will budge.
Easygoing Eyebeast Zeviz
Avernum is the exact copy of Exile, but with a new engine. So there is absolutely no reason to buy both Avernum and Exile games. This means that anybody who considers registering Exile games now is a hard core fan who probably doesn't care about the price. The only thing Jeff could accomplish by lowering prices for Exile series is cutting into his Avernum sales. As for BoE, it is currently a better value than BoA, because a value of a game like this is in its scenarios and there are far more quality scenarios BoE. Easygoing Eyebeast ben4808
Well, you can't forget that a sizable portion of each game is free for download, presumably just enough to get the player captivated and ready to buy the full version at all costs. So that puts out the possibility of putting games like Exile 1 up for free download so you can try out how the Exile games work. BoE will continue to sell at full price for a very long time. No one wants to miss out on all those scenarios there for the playing.
Magnificent Ornk Drakefyre
Jeff has said that the Exile games still sell pretty well.
Well-Actually War Trall Drew
Fair enough. EDIT: Ben, obviously I'm aware of the sizable demos. I wasn't suggesting he let the game go for free. Were he to offer it instead for, say, ten bucks, I think he'd manage to sell a lot more of it. That's all.

(and probably no originally BoA will be converted to BoE) So you have to buy both if you want to play the scenarios for both.
Well-Actually War Trall Ash Lael
You'll notice that Zeviz referred specifically to the Blades games in the next paragraph, so I think it's safe to assume he wasn't including them in that statement. Mind, I still prefer the Exile Trilogy to the Avernum Trilogy. Never registered any games from either, though.
Unflappable Drayk Jewels
You're missing alot. Even though the demos were huge, they're still only thirds or forths of the whole games. You should buy them...
Unflappable Drayk Princess Ruth
They're really cheap as it is though! Look at how much Exile costs compared to your average X-Box game... And you get loads more play out of it too...
Easygoing Eyebeast ben4808
Most people register because they really want a game. And if you really want a game, you will be willing to pay for, no matter if you can get Halo for the same price or not. The enjoyment factor in most cases is similar. They're mainly just loads of fighting glued together with crummy or non-existant storylines. Geneforge was good, though.

For a website hosting the scenario, repeated downloads from several people will probably cost a bit more money.
Fledgling Fyora D+
Do you need to buy the full version of Blades of Exile to play the downloadable scenarios?
Magnificent Ornk Drakefyre
Yes. However, with the amount of good scenarios (100+), it amounts to a cost of about 30 cents per good scenario, and 10 cents per scenario out there, and many of them are very good.
