Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer Posted January 26, 2015 Author Posted January 26, 2015 You can go back to everywhere in Ornotha Ziggurat except the roof. Missing from the original item list: Duelist's gloves: 3% armor, 10% faster fatigue recovery, +2 melee weapons Drops in Tomb of Delrin-Bok, SE room with lever That wasn't there the last time I went through so Jeff must have changed it, again. I'm running a new party through the game so I'll check it. Quote
Ineffable Wingbolt mikeprichard Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 It's definitely +2 melee, if that's the question - have the gloves equipped on my fighter right now. Quote
Burgeoning Battle Gamma Bonam Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 It's definitely +2 melee, if that's the question - have the gloves equipped on my fighter right now. The gloves weren't in the original list at all (randomizer will check and add it). I just bolded the melee part cause that's what makes em interesting. Quote
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer Posted January 26, 2015 Author Posted January 26, 2015 I remember them being elsewhere and then it seems they got removed. Jeff shifted items around at the end. Quote
Ineffable Wingbolt mikeprichard Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Ah, OK. Sounds like he made quite a few last-minute changes. Quote
Easygoing Eyebeast Dantius Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Missing from the list: Venomous Blade. Go through the secret passage in the wall to the west of the Crystal Soul Shrine, then use the Orb of Thralni to fly over the lava. Force your way into the Vahnatai tomb and you get it EDIT: Clairified directions Quote
Ineffable Wingbolt mikeprichard Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Yeah, I noticed that spot (pre-orb) and was wondering why it wasn't mentioned in the list. Good to know that's what's over there. Quote
Hatchling Cockatrice Quiconque Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Total Consciousness gives everyone a small, permanent bonus to Mental Resistance -- I think it's 5%. EDIT: Actually, it's probably more... 7 or 8%? It's giving me a 3% increase at various baselines around 60%. Wow, very nice for non-spellcasters. Quote
Ineffable Wingbolt mikeprichard Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Wow, I didn't notice that mental resistance bonus - I was also wondering what "Total Consciousness" really did (beyond adding a line of text to the little blurb when you die and need to reload). Quote
Burgeoning Battle Gamma Bonam Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Any idea what some of the other buffs you get like "blessing of the caves" or "crystal blessing" do? (They're temporary but in practice last long enough that you could have em up all the time if they actually had an effect). Quote
Hatchling Cockatrice Quiconque Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 A few of them give small bonuses to resistance that appear on your character screen. I didn't pay specific attention, since they are all pretty temporary. Quote
Ineffable Wingbolt mikeprichard Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Is there a key for the door in the west outer wall of Pyrn's tower (which leads to the body outside surrounded by the magic barriers)? If so, where is the thing? Quote
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer Posted January 30, 2015 Author Posted January 30, 2015 Jeff pocketed the key to bother us. Quote
Ineffable Wingbolt mikeprichard Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 So just another twisted Spiderweb mind game. Thanks, Randomizer. Quote
Hatchling Cockatrice Quiconque Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 The key is inside the Puzzle Box. Quote
Ineffable Wingbolt mikeprichard Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Never mind then - thanks, Slarty! Quote

Ineffable Wingbolt mikeprichard Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Dahhhh, ya got me... been way too long since I've played either the "original" Exile/Avernum 2 or Nethergate. I'm an easy mark. Quote
Ineffable Wingbolt mikeprichard Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Correction to the notes under Egli - I've confirmed that you can get Rentar's phoenix egg even after getting the egg from Pyrog's lair; that's what I did, and I'm now showing "Phoenix Egg (2)" in my Special Items list. Quote
Hatchling Cockatrice Quiconque Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 NE in Dharmon (in the magi clearance part) there's a pot obscured by the east wall with a gold ring and some other salable goods in it. Quote
Ineffable Wingbolt mikeprichard Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Correction: Garzahd drops a Blessed Armor Band. Quote
Hatchling Cockatrice Quiconque Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Looks like the special encounter with the soldiers in the Castle walls have a random factor. I failed the first time but the next try was a success. Edit: Had 17 Strength, 8 Dexterity, and 4 Luck on my singleton. If there is a random factor, which makes sense, there are also non-random limits to it. At level 20 with no extra points in Str or Dex, I don't seem to ever succeed. (Of course, if you have no extra points in Str or Dex, you likely don't care much about the prize either.) Quote
Garrulous Glaahk Nobear Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 To anyone wondering about additional reasons to have natural AL instead of Sage Lore, my party has 2 natural AL, 2 Vahnatai Lore and 4x Sage Lore traits, and Wilvron-Bok can't teach me any spells. Unless it's a Vahnatai Lore check, it suggests that these spells may require natural AL. Quote

Unless it's a Vahnatai Lore check, it suggests that these spells may require natural AL. The AL numbers for the Shrine of Crystal spells maybe 3 lower since that includes a Sage Lore trait in my and Synergy's leveling up to get them. Quote

Unless it's a Vahnatai Lore check, it suggests that these spells may require natural AL. Yeah, it's been confirmed that Wilvron's spells are a natural arcane lore check. Quote
Hatchling Cockatrice Quiconque Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 There is a more updated list of AL numbers here. Quote
Hatchling Cockatrice Quiconque Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 If there is a random factor, which makes sense, there are also non-random limits to it. At level 20 with no extra points in Str or Dex, I don't seem to ever succeed. (Of course, if you have no extra points in Str or Dex, you likely don't care much about the prize either.) 20 total Str + Dex is enough to win within a few tries. That's level 23 w/no investment plus a belt and dex scimitar, much earlier for any fighter, clearly. Quote
Articulate Vlish Unawares Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Just curious, any chance there are follow-up "shady" quests to be found if you complete the tools quest in Dharmon? I skipped that one... Quote
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer Posted February 7, 2015 Author Posted February 7, 2015 Dharmon is just a one shady quest. Quote
Articulate Vlish Unawares Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 The cheap wine quest can be completed. I don't know what the limit is, but it's less than 1000. Unfortunately, the wine you bring to complete it will be counted even if you bring more than is needed to end it. That was a 906 experience, 20,000 gold shipment of wine... 100 wine will complete it, and you get paid for all 100. Quote
Hatchling Cockatrice Quiconque Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 You get paid for all the wine in your last delivery, whatever size the delivery is, even if it's over the limit. You can go over the limit, which is almost certainly well below 100. But once you hit it, you can't make any more wine deliveries. (Thus, unless you delivered those 100 bottles one by one, that's not the limit.) Quote
Hatchling Cockatrice Quiconque Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 The sword in the stone (S great cave) needs either Str 10 or 11, not 12. Quote
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer Posted February 8, 2015 Author Posted February 8, 2015 The waveblade in the stone used to be much higher. Quote
Garrulous Glaahk Hyperion703 Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 You missed the Marksman Vest. Available from Sharon in Harston. -hype Quote
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 In the Vahnatai Fortress in the Chasm Tunnels, the moldy cabinet in the northwest that opens the area to the west requires one level of Vahnatai Lore. Quote
Easygoing Eyebeast Jerakeen Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I can report that the barrier surrounding the body outside the door to Pyrn's tower actually requires level 4 DB (!), which is of course impossible to get without cheating. Not that you could have level 3 (or any level) by that point without cheating anyway. More to the point, there's nothing on that body. Tyranicus and Quiconque 2 Quote

Understated Ur-Drakon Earth Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 So Lava Dome should have hidden switch in NW Hordling Pit but I can't find it (I've searched whole building with help of u and no luck) so where is it? Quote
Garrulous Glaahk Sade Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Do you mean this one: NW Hordling Pit - hidden switch - level 3 move mountains - metal chest - Stability Girdle (6% armor, -5% to hit chance, +4% to evade)? It is not located inside the Hordling Pit, per se, but rather slightly to the north: Quote
Understated Ur-Drakon Earth Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I have combed whole dome thru searching switches (with u) and Kordaddis but no luck, 1 big demon was in pillar room but that wasn't Kordaddis and it didn't drop Flaming sword. Quote
Ineffable Wingbolt Superba Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 The fiery sword is so powerful that it's probably worth mentioning twice. Just to be sure about this, you meant the Fire Sword? Otherwise I would like to know where the Fiery Sword can be collected. Quote
Garrulous Glaahk wackypanda Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 Some things which I'm not sure were mentioned elsewhere: The Magical Efficiency bonus from the chair in Ornotha Ziggurat costs 500 XP (!) from all characters. The obstacle course in Camp Samuels can give XP once. Quote
