Fledgling Fyora Army Pea Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 I have to admit that I am alittle ashamed for two particular reasons while im posting this. One is that I only recently started playing Avernum EFTP. The second is that I haven't even heard of this game/series/spidersoft till recently. I was out on a camping trip with a fellow CRPG fan and the topic obviously steered towards some of our favorite games of the genre. BG, BG:2, Fallout 1/2, Planescape: Torment. Typical classics. Then he told me about Avernum. Not just the single story of being thrust into an underground prison but more a overview of all the games in each series. Spidersoft's approach to indie gaming and the focus on rich story telling verse graphical bravado. Needless to say it was all very impressive especially in an age where "streamlined" RPG's seem to flood the market. In the end it was word of mouth that (finally) got me to the series and I plan to enjoy the trip. Figured I would say hello to the community and formally introduce myself. ArmyPea Quote
Magnificent Ornk Kelandon Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 (edited) Welcome! If you've just come to Spiderweb, you've got a lot of really excellent (and length) games to play ahead of you. Have fun! Oh, and leave your sanity at the door. Edited September 24, 2014 by Kelandon The traditional greeting, you know. Quote
Fledgling Fyora Army Pea Posted September 25, 2014 Author Posted September 25, 2014 Leave your sanity at the door. Care to explain that whimsical saying? Quote
Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 "Leave your sanity at the door" used to be the motto of Miscellaneous, Spiderweb's off-topic forum. While Miscellaneous no longer exists in the form it did back then, the motto has metastasized to the rest of the forums. Quote
Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 If you're asking for an explanation you haven't left your sanity yet. —Alorael, who also welcomes you to Spiderweb, games and forums. Both can be lots of fun. He's not saying which one has harder fights. adc. 1 Quote
Rotghroth Rhapsody The Reverend Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I actually keep mine tucked away in my back pocket rather than leaving it at the door - I always worry that if I leave it at the door, I might get mixed up and grab somebody else's by mistake ... Quote
Fledgling Fyora Army Pea Posted September 25, 2014 Author Posted September 25, 2014 I have two little girls so I'm sure that apart of my sanity is forever lost. I'll choose to leave that particular piece of sanity at the door even if it's a symbolic gesture Quote

Rotghroth Rhapsody The Reverend Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 How will you grab somebody elses? All deposited sanity is devoured by the fluffy turtles. All the more reason to keep it within reach, I suppose. I'm trying to maintain the bits and pieces that my two little girls haven't already devoured... Quote
Unflappable Drayk adc. Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 How will you grab somebody elses? All deposited sanity is devoured by the fluffy turtles. I devour fluffy turtles. Does that make me sane? Apparently, yes. Supporting evidence that I regained sanity: Quote
Easygoing Eyebeast Triumph Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 I devour fluffy turtles. You can't devour fluffy turtles. This proves you're delusional. adc. 1 Quote
