homer
I got this on Steam last week and I'm really enjoying it. I'm 12 hours in and I've just talked to the king for the first time. There are some things I've been wondering about the game though: 1. Do those wandering parties of monsters on the outside map constantly spawn, or is there a finite number of them? 2. Will the game end after one ending, or will I be able to do all three things in one playthrough? No spoilers please. 3. Is there any difference between the different types of coins (copper, silver, gold) is it just aesthetic? 4. Is there any use for beer/wine? I bought some at an inn early on thinking I could drink it or something but as far as I can tell it's a junk item.
Randomizer
1. Wandering monsters constantly respawn, but once you go into combat the other groups disappear for a while. Also as your level rises, then the weaker groups run away instead of fighting. 2. You can leave the game after completing any number of the main three quests so you can do them in any order. The only difference is side quests with more than one person wanting the same item. 3. Coins are coins. I think the color is related to quantity. Welcome to Spiderweb Software. Please leave your sanity at the door. You may want it back later.
Edgwyn
There is a use for wine, but not for personal consumption.
Earth
1. Monsters respawn and same applies to herbs but it takes few hrs realtime (after each big battle you can go and check if herbs have come back) for those to respawn. XP returns diminish when party reaches highish level (after that only place to get nice XP is 1 of main quests place). 4. Wine (not Gremlin Wine) has quest attached but you can get it plenty after you reach central cave where is Castle etc so no need to buy it, beer is just junk. Indignus
4.) Nope. But you would want to keep some bags of sugar, because they're rare.
Earth
Sugar is quest object and there are 2 bags of those.
Lucidus
Actually, I have completed the sugar quest and have found an additional 3 bags, so there are at least 4 (I'm not quite to the end). Ordinary wine, Almarian wine, and ale are all needed to fulfill quests, but otherwise they are of no use to your party. Check the "Items to Keep" heading under Strategy Central for more detail. You don't ever need to buy these things; there is enough lying around to satisfy the quest requirements. To answer your earlier questions: 1) There are some groups of wandering monsters that you will always encounter the first time you enter a certain area of the map. These can be tough fights. Once these particular groups have been defeated, they are gone for good. In addition, there are other groups which spawn at random, so you may encounter them at any place at any time. Generally speaking, these are not as challenging. 2) You can choose to complete 1, 2, or all 3 of the 'winning' quests. 3) Coins differ in value; a stack of gold coins will be worth more than a stack of silver, which in turn will be worth more than a stack of copper. The value is shown just below the image of the coins in the 'Get Items' window.
