Trent
I've stockpiled a massive amount of runestones, but can't decide which ones to use. Is there any optimal strategy for which runestones to use on late-game top tier items? ZorroDragonslayer
Lilith
Golden runestones are the strongest, but there aren't enough of them to put one on every bit of gear for every character in the endgame. Deep runestones can be useful if you're trying to focus on evasion for one character. Apart from those, just pick ones that help boost resistances that a character is lacking in -- for example, physical protection runestones for your Shaman's gear. Superba
Runstones are a bit of a problem to me, always have been. When to use them, this is the main question. However, I came to the decision not to use the 80, 120, 140 coins runstones at all, I use the 160 coins for sorceress and shaman but only for staffs (two handed); then I wait they find single hand wands to use golden runstones or again 160 coins ones. Same reasoning for Dex, Strenght, Intelligence runstones, I wait to use them until I collect weapons, belts, piece of armor etc etc which I am reasonably sure I will wear till endgame and sell all what's left. Earth
I used Runestones after I met Redbeard in Foresight since for sure by then all chars have equips which will be used until game ends.
Superba
That is endgame, isn't it? Maybe you missed the chance to add significant bonuses to your equipment before that moment. For instance, when you get Blademaster blade in Troezen you can guess that this is the ultimate weapon for her, because adds levels to some Blademaster skills. Right moment to give that weapon a golden runstone, if this character is more important than others in your party, or at least an improvement with a different runstone. Lilith
Yeah, seriously, there are more runestones in the game than you need to enhance all of everyone's endgame gear, so don't be shy about using some of the less important ones early on. Randomizer
Or selling minor ones for cash.
Earth
That is endgame, isn't it? not really, party still has trip to 1 temple ahead and then trip back to Foresight etc.
Trent
I've been putting golden runestones on top tier weapons, and deep runestones on top tier armor. Then some boosts to endurance are pretty handy.
