Garrulous Glaahk ixfd64
Two things I really like about Blades of Exile are its combat system and the ability to create a game world with lots of meaningful content. However, the arbitrary limits on the number of items and NPCs kind of gets in the way of creating a truly epic scenario. The open source version promises to change this, but it looks like it'll be quite a while before it fully supports unlimited items and characters (or at least a very large number of them). So I'm wondering: are there any other good RPG editors out there? The things I'm looking for (with the more important factors in bold) are: * Open source if possible * The ability to make standalone games (executables) is a plus * Scripting * Support for unlimited items and NPCs (although an engine with a very large cap will do) * A graphics library * A low learning curve is also a plus Thanks in advance! Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
There are a few options out there, but they all have their problems. You could take a look at this list and see what stands out, I guess.
Well-Actually War Trall Cairo Jim
The Marathon series from Bungie has been released as open source, and there are editors and so on available for the series. Although Marathon isn't quite RPG, I thought I'd throw it in. It could be worth looking in to.
Unflappable Drayk Edgwyn
I was very disappointed that the list on Wikipedia did not mention Eamon.
Burgeoning Battle Gamma Rya.Reisender
Not really suited for RPGs, but you can get Multimedia Fusion 2 for basically free today via Humble Bundle: https://www.humblebundle.com/weekly (only for the next 24 hours!) It usually costs quite a lot, so it's a good deal. I personally prefer OHRRPGCE but I guess that does neither have a graphics library nor a very high limit on items (I think you can create 255 different ones?). There is a free version of RPG Maker Ace I think. Edit: Actually you can create games like Avernum with MMF2. For example this game was made with it: http://store.steampowered.com/app/252210
