jambongusa
So far the game has been pretty reasonable as far as how challenging it is (even the Miranda battle was doable), however during this fight with Hundred Claws I am at a loss. I'm assuming that I need to deal damage to Hundred Claws after all his wolves are dead, but are there any other strategies to that? I am using a Blademaster, Tinkermage, and Sorcerer but his acid attack one hit kills my tinkermage and sorcerer. Any damage I deal to him, he seems to be able to heal pretty easily. I have been playing on Torment so far, and I would like to continue on that difficulty but maybe I have met my limit.
*i
What is your level and character build? I took two Blademasters and a Tinkermage at a little under level 20 and I found this fight comparatively easy.
Randomizer
If your weaker characters stay back and separated then it is harder to hit them all with that acid attack. The main thing is to kill the spirit wolves quickly since if Hundred Claws makes too many he becomes immune to damage. So try to use area attacks to hit Hundred Claws and his wolves at the same time. Don't keep wands for later. Wands of ice and fire won't be that effective much later in the game so this is a good time to use them.
Ivan Bajlo
I've used first area effect attacks to soften up all enemies after which my melee fighter took care of the wolves while mage attacked HC who seems to burn nicely , also used helper staff which give me nice pet bat with some nasty corruption attack on HC, did have to use one heal all scroll since I'm lazy in micromanaging potions and other healing stuff. jambongusa
I managed to beat him, I found that the problem was that there were two more spirit wolves that were still alive on the other side of him, so I was dealing half damage while he was hitting twice as hard the entire time. after I killed those wolves it was beatable, although still difficult. Kordanor
While it was probably the hardest fight till now, I think it was still pretty easy on torment. Had a blademaster, wo stood in the middle and tanked and provided haste in the very beginning (after that it's fatigued by wolves). A shaman who summons a drake and then heals and does damage with his missile weapon. He was out of the "inner area", and out of range of the enemy shaman. And my main character, a tinkermage. This guy built a freezing turrent and a razor turret in the middle, and then only did ranged attacks either. First I focussed on the wolves, then when a turret hit the shaman I focussed on the summoned wolves. Didn't take too long until the shaman died, mainly by damage from the ice turret, which also killed the summoned wolves while being hasted. Triumph
This fight has got me totally stuck, so I'm seeking suggestions. Playing on normal difficult, and my guys are level 18-19. I've done all the sidequests I can find so far. I can't beat the blind titan on the way to Hundred Claws, but can sneak past him. I get the trick about killing Hundred Claws's spirit wolf thingies, it's just that I die before he does. LOL. My PC is a tinkermage, and besides that I went in with the shaman and the shadowwalker. Thinking of going back to Avadon and trying to bring a different party in, but not sure who would work better. Anyone got suggestions on what team works best against Hundred Claws? Lilith
Once Khalida's level 18 or higher, she can learn Call of the Frenzy, which gives Battle Frenzy status to the entire party (including any summoned turrets), letting them act twice per round. Try it!
Randomizer
Even a few speed burst scroll near the fight start can help. You need to build the two turrets so they can hit Hundred Claws and the spirit wolves. Then back off the tinkermage to razordisk range. Also it doesn't hurt to use some recovery potions so the shaman can do more healing and area effect attacks as well as the pet.
Punctuation rains from the heavens
Triumph actually needs a less exploitative strategy than "OP Battle Frenzy all and chug potions," as he's playing the remix beta, and overpowered/imbalanced stuff is no longer a thing. The sorceror and shaman both have summons and defensive buffs that might be useful. The shaman also gets heals, and the sorceror can do a lot of damage. A utility shadowwalker could stun the wolves, or a melee one could try to dispatch HC quickly. A parry-focused Blademaster might also save the day with Challenge. For turrets, I'm not sure how easy it would be to use the magnet abilities on HC, but you could always run up and stick Temporal and Poison turrets on him. That would have been a helpful thing to mention before asking for strategic advice!
Triumph
Sorry. Didn't think about that when I made the original post.
Edgwyn
I have been doing the remix beta as well, and have found it harder than the base game. That said, with my TM, Sorcerer and BM I was able to beat the blind Titan on the second try and 100 Claws on the first try with that party. I think that it would be harder with the Shaman and Shadowwalker instead. The shaman does not have as good AofE spells as the Sorcerer. The Sorcerer's AofE spells were critical to my getting rid of the normal wolves first and quickly before focusing on 100 claws. Then the Sorcerer focused on the spirit wolves as they appeared with his firebolt. TM created and kept alive a couple of turrets to provide extra damage and to absorb extra damage, while attacking spirit wolves when they appeared with sword or throwing stars. BM focused on 100 claws for the most part, using the extra damage abilities to inflict more pain, which the redone SW does not really have. And of course during the turns when there were no wolves to kill, everyone focused on damaging 100 claws while drinking healing potions/elixirs. Triumph
Report: I discovered I could progress a little further seeking Eye Dymas, and I that I could chase that rogue tinkermage in the dungeon further, and gained a level, getting my dudes up to level 20. I brought Khalida and Alcander to face Hundred Claws. Before actually triggering the fight, I went into combat mode. I sent my PC (tinkermage) around to one end of the grove, and Alcander around to the other end. Each started making turrets, giving me coverage of the entire grove area (in my previous attempts, Hundred Claws would always end up running off out of reach of my turrets, making my Tinkermage halfway useless). I've trained Khalida as an archer, and so she has a very strong ranged attack that let her stand at the edge of the grove and keep hitting H-C or one-hit-KO his spirit-wolves. And thus I defeated H-C. Compared how the earlier shadow-walker / shaman / tinkermage team floundered, this was surprisingly (pleasantly!) easy. Earth
I killed him with Tinker and Blade using their ranged attacks and Shaman using spells and wolf stomping inside garden so that each "exit" was blocked by my party and turret (slingshot) did extra damage. I kept killing wolves as those spawned (usually by tinker and blade and bit help from wolf) and shaman hit shaman.
