Please Jeff-Don't kill my only exploits

I was just reading on a thread that jeff is planning to remove the dexterity exploit in Avadon. If he does this and dexterity is no longer useful, I won't have any Spiderweb games to play that Im good at. I can't play Avernum or Geneforge because they are too ridiculously hard. I hope that he sees this and still makes dexterity a decent exploit. I'm only asking because unless I missed my mark, the other games are not going to change any day soon.

 

I can't stand the Geneforge and Avernum games. They start out all fun in the beginning and get more and more frustratingly aggravating as you go along until eventually they are like working a job. The games serve the purpose well. The purpose is to make a game able to be beaten by turn based experts and anyone that doesn't know exactly what to do in every exact spot is finished.

 

Avadon was different because I was actually good at the tactics and the story was still sweet. I hope that dexterity is mildly useful because its the only exploit there is.

Drop the difficulty down to the lowest setting. If you're still struggling, you're doing something very, very wrong. You have to play everything right to beat Avernum and GF on the highest (and maybe even second-highest) settings, but I got maybe a third to halfway through Avernum 6 without using skill points really at all (on Hard). You don't have to be a super min-maxer to get through Avernum and GF on Casual.

 

The Dexterity exploit was an aberration among Spidweb's recent games, so I'd guess that it's toast in Avadon 2.

I would also recommend lowering the difficulty level. I suck at games and make no effort to min-max. I just imagine a character and distribute points based on that. I always play on the easiest level and have had little difficulty finishing Avernums IV-VI or Avadon. The Geneforges are hard, I couldn't finish the last one even when I cheated. EFTP is pretty hard too. But the games have difficulty levels so that they can be challenging to hardcore optimizers and fun for people like me who just want to go through the story and defeat evil.

My difficulty lvl is Adranos.

My version has casual, normal, hard, and torment. What is this Adranos? Do you mean the MMORPG?

 

Anyway, I think Dexterity will still be useful in Avadon2, just not quite as useful. In the most recent Avernum (escape from the pit), you could lead with a priest and give about equal points to dexterity and intellegence and evade ~70% of what MOBs throw at you on casual or normal difficulties.

I just like the fact that you can be very useful with ranged weapons in Avadon. I know that jeff said many changes I just don't want to lose some of the things that make the game fun. In Avernum you could still move from place to place when next to an enemy-but so could enemies as well. The movement is brutal for melee but its more fun to for ranged çharacters that way. I just don't want him to do something that changes why I like the game-which is that ranged weapons rock.

Sorry for double post. Adranos is the demon that comes at my character in one of the Avadon Dungeons. He talks about Adranos. That is the difficulty lvl I have. I like to fight enemies at his lvl in the game.

I've never played at anything lower than torment, and I've beaten Avernum EftP (with builds that would make a minmaxer cry) and the first three Geneforges so far.

 

I'm hoping that dexterity is going to be fixed, personally, though it's not like I found myself forced to go all out in dex for any of my characters. Has there been any confirmation of dexterity getting rebalanced?
