Garrulous Glaahk ixfd64
At first ! thought I was seeing things, but it seems all of the Exile games are now freeware! Does this mean we might see a source code release as well? Sorry if this is old news, but I couldn't find any mention of it. nikki.
Well-Actually War Trall Harehunter
I could not believe my eyes. I could swear that someone said that Exile was free. So I had to go and verify. Sure enough, it is free. www.spiderwebsoftware.com/exile/winexile.html I would not hold my breath for the open source. But then again ... Garrulous Glaahk ixfd64
I do find it strange that Jeff has neither mentioned this on the Spiderweb Software website or the company's Facebook page. Maybe he's also planning to release the source code and will post the official announcement then. Yeah, wishful thinking, I know.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
Jeff is usually late with announcements and he is working on Avadon 2. Yeah another beta to find bugs in.
Understated Ur-Drakon Tyranicus
I have made Wineskin Mac apps from the Windows versions like I did with the original Avernum trilogy. They are available here. nikki.
Well-Actually War Trall Rowen
Do I need to download Wineskin to run your versions first?
Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
No. Download the apps and the wrapper is included. —Alorael, who appreciates Tyran's efforts to make the classics accessible.
Tenderfoot Thahd Sunutpen
I have made Wineskin Mac apps from the Windows versions like I did with the original Avernum trilogy. They are available here. Brilliant! That is fantastic, thank you. Is there any chance of Blades of Exile getting the same treatment?
Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
There's no need. Because BoE is open source there's already a native Intel Mac build available. —Alorael, who supposes that doesn't help you at all in your quest for a scenario editor. So yes, a Wineskin version might be helpful.
Tenderfoot Thahd Sunutpen
Yeah, it's mainly the scenario editor I'm after. Am I correct in assuming that scenarios created in a Wineskinned version of the old editor would be compatible with the current BoE build? Well-Actually War Trall Harehunter
You might like this version I wrote to run in Windows. I am trying to get around to making it compatible to all platforms. Look at the screen shots and if it appears worth the trouble of Wining about it, then have at it. http://www.harehunter.info/BoE/ExScenEd.html
Magnificent Ornk nikki.
I have made Wineskin Mac apps from the Windows versions like I did with the original Avernum trilogy. They are available here. B-E-A-Utiful. Thanks Tyran!

Am I correct in assuming that scenarios created in a Wineskinned version of the old editor would be compatible with the current BoE build? Yes. The output doesn't depend on the operating system. On the other hand you might run into the old cross-platform issues, but those were all save files and graphics if I remember correctly. —Alorael, who suspects making a wrapper for Harehunter's Windows scenario editor is not a huge undertaking. But he's not Tyran and doesn't actually know how to go about doing it.

Easygoing Eyebeast Enraged Slith
cool!.sfx Now if only I could figure out how to make them work on Windows 7...
Well-Actually War Trall Harehunter
Win7 32-bit runs Exile just fine. If you're running Win7 64-bit, I have on my website the link to Vogons website where you can get instructions on how to build a DOSBOX with Windows 3.1 or Window 95 which will run Exile OK. Tenderfoot Thahd MeetCrib9119
Oh my, fantastic. Thank you so much for making these versions. It has made my day I know this is an old topic, but it's brilliant!
Garrulous Glaahk Qualicide
would this work on XP? it sounds like any 32 bit OS works, and I don't have a copy of windows 95 lying around(not many people do, I imagine). I do have a copy of XP and setting up a partition running it would be easy enough.

Understated Ur-Drakon Celtic Minstrel
It does work in Windows XP mode on Windows 7 Pro (which is basically Virtual PC, I think).
Kyshakk Koan Erika Maroonmark
I just downloaded the Wineskinned Exile 1, but whenever I go to a window like "More info" on a character or the spell screen, the whole thing becomes completely unresponsive. Any idea why this could be? (I'm using El Capitan -- there's apparently an issue in general with Wineskin and El Capitan, but I was able to get around it; that's what allowed me to run the game in the first place.) Tenderfoot Thahd Fenix Wulfheart
I do not know why that is, sorry that I cannot help. I have a question of my own. I intend to play through Exile again if I can get it to work - are there any sites still up that have BoE scenarios available? Is that even still a thing any more? If not I can always just buy BoA. I have been meaning to for awhile, but haven't bc it isn't sold separately and I already own the trilogy set.

Understated Ur-Drakon The Almighty Doer of Stuff
BoE is still "a thing" although I've been distracted from helping with the project by life (and Minecraft). I don't know what Celtic Minstrel's been up to the last couple weeks. Check out the forum header at the Blades of Exile subforum of this message board! CM is leading development of an improved BoE that runs on modern systems and has some new features and stuff. He's usually in the IRC chat room and I often am too. Understated Ur-Drakon Celtic Minstrel
I've been distracted by... let's just say "games". I'm nearly always in the IRC channel, so just ping me (ie, say my name) and I'll eventually respond. (So don't join for a few minutes and then leave. Hang around for a few hours at least. You can just leave it idle while you do other things.) Fenix Wulfheart
