Garrulous Glaahk Learned Noremac
So, as some of you may be aware, the Wand of Carrunos, an item you pick up a few of in the game, is something of a joke item--it poisons the target(which is almost always resisted), but also loads it up with oodles of positive stat boosts, and makes the fight harder for no real reason. BUT! I actually made practical use out of it in a fight. Whenever one of your guys becomes charmed, you are allowed to attack him. So, you can cast the Curse of Carrunos on the guy while charmed, then caste Unshackle Mind, and huzzah! Awesome stat boosts. So, give all your Carrunos wands to your priests. Understated Ur-Drakon Earth
useful in early game since chars will start resist charming soonish.
Well-Actually War Trall Rowen
In an email Jeff told me that the Wand of Carrunos is there to make the enemy tougher to add to your playing fun. Find a boss to easy? Use the wand to spice it up a bit.
Garrulous Glaahk Learned Noremac
If you pay...Leith? I think is his name? He says pretty much the same thing. Make your prey more of a challenge. But of course its sort of a joke item since most people will just use it and wonder how that Vapor Rat just boosted its stats so much. Understated Ur-Drakon Earth
yea spice up grah'toth or dch a bit and catastrophy is ready.
Garrulous Glaahk Little Fyora
That was a great idea by L.Noremac. But you're saying it was actually meant to boost your enemies' stats so you can enjoy trying to kill them better ? The very ridiculousness of it appeals to my taste. It's a definite must-try. Understated Ur-Drakon The Almighty Doer of Stuff
The Exile Wand of Carrunos was disappointing. It wouldn't tell you what it did when you used it, only describing the beam it emitted, although Leith or whoever it was still told you about it. It only raised the target's level, not the rest of the stats, meaning all that happened was it was very slightly harder to hit, which didn't especially make it any more challenging, just slightly more annoying. It also didn't affect party members. I think so anyway. It's been a while.

Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
In Exile I, at least the original version, the Wand of Carrunos had a range of 0. You could only target yourself, and it didn't do anything to you. —Alorael, who recalls E1 having descriptions of the effects of items. The Wand of Carrunos fired a red beam of some kind, although how you could figure out the beam when it wouldn't leave the end of the wand is an interesting question. Maybe it was less a beam and more a weak trickle.
Ineffable Wingbolt Mosquito---Slayer
or maybe it went straight upwards.
Garrulous Glaahk Little Fyora
or it could be that the beam only gets as far as the Square you are in.
Magnificent Ornk nikki.
Maybe it just made you think a beam was being emitted, and even that it was affecting the enemy before you.
