Tenderfoot Thahd sage
Finished AEFTP, and loved it. I haven't really been able to get into Avandon. I started playing N:R and am enjoying it, but the game could really use a port to a newer engine... Or better yet, a sequel / prequel in the same general setting. It's really nice to play a game set in such a unique setting.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
N:R is the newer game engine but it's based on Avernum 3/Blades of Avernum game engine instead of the original pre-Avernum one. No plans for any more like it or in the series.
Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
Nethergate has sadly never sold well enough for Jeff to put much faith in it, or so the rumors go. —Alorael, who could see any number of sequels working, but they could all be just various flavors of historical fantasy. The actual story of Nethergate is set in a very specific, special, and limited time in its fictional world history, however, and making direct prequels or sequels would be very difficult. Well-Actually War Trall Ishad Nha
Magic in Britannia dies out as the game ends. It would be hard to have a sequel unless magic re-enters the world. A prequel would still be possible of course. Edited December 9, 2012 by Cantileverage Spoiler for someone who just started! Unflappable Drayk Death Knight
I spoke with Jeff a few months back as I wanted to know if he would ever remake it. He said that he would, but that it would not happen for quite a long time
Magnificent Ornk nikki.
The ORIGINAL game still runs fine on my 64-bit Windows 7 computer, and I assume that N:R works as well on the newer Apple operating system as it does on Windows 7, so there's pretty much no reason why Jeff would upgrade. Ineffable Wingbolt Mosquito---Slayer
The engine looks aged now, If we can have a remake of Avernum 3 then we can have one of Nethergate, unless of course as Alorael said it's not financially viable. Magnificent Ornk nikki.
Avernum 3 is being remade into the new engine because the original game doesn't work with OSX Lion (or computers running newer versions of OSX), not because it looks dated (though, of course, that's probably something to do with it). The "quite a long time" that was quoted might mean after Jeff has finished remaking the original three Avernum games, but I can't see him touching Nethergate again until it just flat-out doesn't work any more; N:R is only 5 years old, after all. Fledgling Fyora Mephisto_VI
Another newbie here too. Just bought the game less than 30 minutes ago and still adjusting to it. Cannot honestly say I am disappointed though, as I enjoy the "old school" feeling to it quite a lot.
