Seasoned Roamer &
Please guys, make more topics. I know BoE is old, but so what? It's a classic game of spidweb, and it represents their quality. As a new member, I'd love to join in some chats, but at the momment I'm only into Blades, so I'd like to be involved in some other topics on it. Come on guys, bring back the olden days. Easygoing Eyebeast *i
We have a Blades chat, read the post on the Blades of Avernum forum. Blades of Exile is acceptable there also.
Garrulous Glaahk Slith Lord
If you want to see forums without many topics, look at Subterra!
Easygoing Eyebeast ben4808
I might be tempted to point you here . There's still topics made here; they just don't come in the masses like General or something.
Rotghroth Rhapsody Tonweya
I think, too, that a lot of the people who have these games are players, not chatters. Many try them, then put them on a shelf to try something else, but the ones who are still active are simply enjoying the playing of the games. Because these games have been around for a while, and there are so many BoE Scenarios, a lot of us are still playing Scenarios that are "new" to us. Old timers tend to get comfortable. me
Seasoned Roamer &
Thanks guys, I'm feeling more positive now.
Ineffable Wingbolt DesertPlah
EDIT: On second thought, it's more of the same problem in BoA. Go see the BoA forum. And of course, nobody updates the scenario tables. But that's nothing new.
Easygoing Eyebeast ben4808
I don't think there's that many scenarios out there to update with. Is it just me, or are BoA scenarios much slower in coming out than BoE?

I think its because some people find it troublesome that you have to download the scenario editor. With BoE you didn't have to. Besides, the BoA editor looks pretty hard to master. I'll never get the hang of it.
Chittering Clawbug MacProject
I'll be buying BoE after I finish up Avernum 4 (yeah, I'm going backwards a little) so I'll be sure to post some questions and topics then.
Easygoing Eyebeast ben4808
Eh, the BoA editor is pretty easy to get the hang of once you get used to it. You just do all your special nodes in text files with C script, which probably gave me an advantage because I already knew C++. But anyway, it's not that hard. However, BoA scenarios are more complex, have more potential, and therefore take longer to make.
Magnificent Ornk Drakefyre
I find the BoE editor much easier to use, and I have programming experience too. I think it's the fact that everything is in one place right in front of you and everything has visual representation.
Easygoing Eyebeast ben4808
Yeah, the BoE editor still is easier to use. However, the BoA editor is still not hard.

Easygoing Eyebeast ben4808
3D editor? Where can I get that?

Easygoing Eyebeast ben4808
That's cool. Weird that I've never heard of it before. Jeff did make it, didn't he?

Not in the nine... Since when does Jeff do work for the sake of assisting designers? Quote: Originally on the BoA Editor remake home page:. . . made by Isaac and ported to Windows by Notus. Jeff only provided the source code for the BoA Editor. Or some such silliness.
Chittering Clawbug Bruce Mitchell
Is there anyone out there who's going to remake the BoE Scenario Editor?
Ineffable Wingbolt Silent Motion
Jeff would have to release the source code for it, or somebody would have to reverse-engineer it. Neither has ever happened, but maybe someday Jeff will release the source. One can but hope.
Seasoned Roamer &
Quote: Originally written by Silent Motion:maybe someday Jeff will release the source. One can but hope. I doubt that, since not many people still seem to be intrested in making BoE scenarios.
Rotghroth Rhapsody WiKiSpidweb
Actually, people have reverse engineered it, but we can't talk about that on these forums.
Ineffable Wingbolt DesertPlah
And other people prefer to keep resurrection limited to Exile games, rather than the forums. EDIT: Ouch. I got burned. Bad.

Especially when somebody who has recently returned to the forums after long absence is adding relevant information to a thread which is still on page 1. EDIT: It is particularly ironic to see this form of back-seat moderating on a topic complaining about low forum activity.
Kyshakk Koan Controversial
BOE Super Editor, anyone? I've come to the conclusion: Why delete unpopular boards? I see them now as like a poor tavern in a big city. You can have a lot of fun on the less popular forums, and get away with more things. They're so much better than General. Considering the number and quality of scenarios available, that's a very good price. Talking about price cuts, Exile Trilogy CD was finally reduced to 25$. Not sure if anybody is still buying Exiles, but at least they are now much cheaper than Avernums.
