Barrier in Crone's House

Is there a purpase of the barrier in the Northern part of the Crone's palace, where youwalk across and see your faces on the warriors as Celts?

There is a book containing predicitons of the fate of the Roman Empire when playing as Romans. There's also some low-level spells tucked away with that stuff.

 

The prediction pictures depict a Roman Emperor participating in Christian rituals instead of condemning them. There's also some bit about the fall of the Empire which I can't quite clearly remember.
